  • Poor Rose

Rose's husband Charlie also die in her bed when they were making love, and this time Al also die in her bed when they were making love. Wow, Poor Rose have no luck in bed. lol
  • One night makes Rose have an terriable nightmare.

Rose is dating an man name Al.One night when they spend together.Al asked if he could sleep in her room.Rose tells him that he has leave cause she want the girls to know that he was there. He promised of course. So the next morning.Blanche begin to comment on Rose about last night that she was sleeping with an man.Of course Rose begin to deny it.But when Sophia comes and tell Rose that she saw an man in her bed.An dead man of course.Rose denys it.Afriad of telling Al's sister about Al's death. When she calls she found out it was Al's wife. She felt that it was her fault. But she learn that she wasn't the one that caused Al's death of course.

An average episode. But it was funny as well.moreless
  • A good idea but poorly executed.

I think that this episode had the potential to be very funny. However, I think for it to have happened to Rose was mean. Rose is a very naive person and Al just used her. However, her reaction to what happened was funny. I didn't enjoy her talking to the wife and seeing her stay home while the other girls went out. It was funny when she came home and said that every man she slept with out there had died. That was a pretty funny joke at the end.moreless
  • so funny

this is one of the best episodes ver, the pure comedic brillence, all the girls get off unforgetable lines, Rose is exceptional, Dorothy and Sofia and Blanche all have such great takes on what happened to ppor Rose, this has to be in my top ten Golden Girls episodes ever..
  • After a date with a man, Rose and her date sleep together in Rose's bed. In the morning, the girls discover that the man died. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time that a man died while making love to Rose...moreless

This episode isn't one of the best ones, but it does have a few good moments in it. There are two funny parts of this episode that stand out for me. The first is were Sophia, who is first to let Dorothy and Blanche know that Rose had a man over for the night, says that she can tell Rose's date is dead and that " could light firecrackers under him and he still wouldn't get up." The other is when Rose must tell the wife of the dead man that she was sleeping with him and died. Rose becomes emotional and starts to blame herself while the wife tries to console her, until the wife let's Rose know that she should control herself because she just let his wife know that he not only cheated with her but that her husband is now dead.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • In response the the trivia concerning the same circumstances, Rose is worried about sleeping with a man named Arnie towards the end of this episode.  Either this episode aired out of order, or the episode "Rose The Prude" was meant to be a continuation of this one, because in "Rose The Prude," Rose is worried about sleeping with another man (coincidentally named Arnie) on a cruise.  Is the the same man, different man, or just and oversight from Episode 3?

    • Blanche and Rose talk about what kind of guy Al was, and Dorothy and Sophia enter to confirm that he is dead. However, they both enter, like in most shows, out of the door which is supposed to be Sophia's bedroom. Al wouldn't have been in there.

    • Rose mentions that she hasn't been on a date in 3 months, not since Al died, and she's worried about going out with Arnie because she'll want to sleep with him. Therefore, towards the end of the episode, 3 months passes in a matter of moments.

  • QUOTES (10)

    • Blanche: No, I can't go in there. I have a thing against dead people. I haven't seen one, and I never intend to.
Rose: Didn't you see your husband when he was dead?
Blanche: No, I cannot look at dead people. That's why I can't even watch the news. Every now and then they stick a corpse in on you.

    • Rose: I've never done anything like this; tell a woman her husband's been seeing me.
Blanche: And she'll say; well that dirty rat, I will kill him. And you say; good news darling you don't have to, he's dead.

    • Sophia: You don't think I can recognize death? I lived in a retirement home. Death visited more often than children.

    • Al: We've been seeing each other for a month, Rose. I've never wanted anyone so much.
      Rose: What about your place?
Al: My sister's there. She's an insomniac. We'd have an audience!

    • Blanche: Alright, Dorothy, try this dressing and tell me what you think. It's called creamy zesty italian and it only has 1 calorie.
Dorothy: If you ran it under the faucet it would have more flavor.
      Blanche: Shoot.
Dorothy: Honey, beware of anyone who says 'no calories,' 'absolutely no charge,' and 'let's just lie down on the bed and watch television'.

    • Rose: I never eat chips. I don't like them. They fall in my bra.

    • Rose: You mean I slept with a dead man last night?!
Blanche: Honey, I sleep with them all the time.

    • Blanche: Isn't it interesting how the sounds are the same for awful nightmares and great sex?

    • Rose: I've never had to do this before, tell a woman her husband's been seeing me. That's the hardest thing to tell someone.
Blanche: Oh no it's not. Try telling a pregnant woman that her husband's been cheating on her, with her sister. And your the sister, and you're pregnant too... By her husband.
      Dorothy: You... didn't!
Blanche: Not me! Last night on Dallas! Or Dynasty or Falcon's Landing or one of those, they're all the same.

    • Sophia: Fine, let a dead guy lie there. It's gonna be 98 degrees today. It won't be pretty.
Dorothy: Oh, I'm sure he's not dead. Rose, go look.
Rose: Come on Dorothy, he's sleeping. I don't want to wake him.
Sophia: You could light firecrackers in his nostrils, you won't wake him.

  • NOTES (1)

    • The background shot during the closing credits features Dorothy, Rose and Blanche on the couch, after Rose hangs up the phone after learning that Al is actually married.

    • "In a Bed of Rose's" is a play on the phrase "bed of roses," meaning an easy and carefree life, which is exactly what Al Beatty lived. Both versions of the phrase have been used as the title for many things, including a 1933 comedy film and a 1971 Statler Brothers album.
