This episode is very enjoyable. Sophia was unbelievable in the garage in the beginning, with the St. Valentine's Day Massacre and the contractor's bad taste. Sophia wanted to burn the garage, collect insurance, and build a summer house. Haha! I love that the man told Dorothy off over the phone. Vincenzo gave the ladies a list of the pretty young girls he wanted them to get for him! That was pretty hilarious! The writers of this show are unbelievable. They are so talented, and funny. Overall, I definitely enjoyed this episode. It was yet another well written episode of The Golden Girls, 1985's biggest masterpiece.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • As the start of the episode the camera zooms in on the garage (in the front of the house), but in all episodes in which the garage is set, and whenever the girls enter in and out, it is located in the back of the house.

    • Vito Scotti plays Vincenzo in this episode of The Golden Girls, but returns to the show the next season to play another Italian- Dominic in the episode entitled "Foreign Exchange" (4-24). You may note that his name has changed and so there is no reference to the earlier episode or the girls having seen him once before. Many might recognize him from playing other Italians on other 80's sitcoms, Uncle Aldo Micelli on Who's the Boss?, and Dino Forenzi on Charles in Charge.

  • QUOTES (3)

    • Blanche: He pinched me!
      Sophia: It's a reflex. He's Italian.

    • Dorothy: Wait a minute, Ma, you say your Italian is rusty but you recognize the word for spearhead?
Sophia: It was my brother's nickname for a while as a child.

    • (Sophia translates Vincenzo's instructions)
Sophia: I am the master, I am the king, I am the boss...I am the Walrus.
Dorothy: Ma, either your Sicilian is rusty or he's the world's oldest hippie.

  • NOTES (1)

  • ALLUSIONS (2)

    • Dorothy: I sound like I'm on Ryan's Hope. Dorothy is alluding to the soap opera which aired in the 1970's and 1980's and featured a family by the name of Ryan.

    • Dorothy: This looks like the road construction crew from Cocoon.

Cocoon is a popular movie from the eighties.
