Episode Recap

Rose returns home with her new boyfriend, Al, who is very excited to be finishing his last week at work. Meanwhile, Blanche and the girls are in the midst of remodeling the garage to make it into a guest bedroom when their smarmy contractor suddenly quits. Debating what to do, the girls are surprised when Sophia introduces them to her friend, Vincenzo, reportedly a famous Italian architect who is now in a nursing home and somewhat senile. He offers to help them redo the garage for free, giving directions in Italian, which Sophia translates, while the girls implement them.

Meanwhile, Rose is frustrated with Al's retirement, which consists of sitting around doing nothing and watching television. Bored and annoyed, she challenges him to do something that he's never done before but always wanted to do. Things become a mess with the girls trying to do the labor while Vincenzo directs, so finally Vincenzo agrees to bring in his own crew of workers, which is a motley one at that.

Al announces to Rose that he's going to take her advice and sail around the world. He cashed out his entire life savings and bought a ship and hired a crew. He wants Rose to come along, and she agrees. On board the ship, however, he confesses to Rose that he's terribly seasick, and they haven't even left port. When the girls return home, they find that Vincenzo's crew has done nothing, and with the garage gutted, they decide to leave it that way. In the last minute of the show, Sophia accidentally promises Vincenzo Dorothy's hand in marriage.
