  • Poor Dorothy

Damn doctor didn't believe what Dorothy told them. Those damn doctors are just so stupid.
  • I like this episode because...

It's just fantastic. Dorothy is feeling tired all of the time and doesn't know why. She visits many different doctors and they all tell her the same thing. That there is nothing wrong with her and it is all in her head. She knows that isn't true and continues to visit more and more specialists. Blanche, on the other hand , has decided she is going to write a novl. That ends with hilarious results. This has to be one of my favorite episodes.moreless
  • Dorothy is sure about there being something physically wrong with her. She is tired and sick all of the time; Blanche decides to let her creative juices flow and begins to write a romance novel.moreless

This to me is the funniest episode ever done by the Golden Girls. Well, these two episodes. There is a continuance of the first episode. In this one, Blanche comes up with the great idea to write a romance novel. Who would have more and better experience than her, right? Well, she might have a lot of experience but it doesn't pay off in these episodes. As much as she tries she can't come up with anything. Meanwhile, Dorothy is feeling rundown and sick all the time, and dispite all many doctors as she goes to, she cannot find a single reason or diagnosis for her problems. She decides to go to New York to see a special doctor, and invites Rose, of all the people in the world, to go with her. Absolutely hilarious episode, especially the next one.moreless

  • QUOTES (6)

    • Blanche: Well, now I know why Hemingway killed himself. Oh, girls, I have writer's block. This is the worst feeling in the world.
Sophia: Try ten days without a bowel movement sometime.
Blanche: You just sit there hour after hour after hour.
      Sophia: Tell me about it.

    • Rose: We never had a barbeque in St. Olaf after the tragedy.
Dorothy: ...I guess we have to ask.
      Sophia: No we don't.
Dorothy: She'll work it in anyway. What tragedy, Rose?
Rose: I can't talk about it.
      Dorothy: Fine.
      Sophia: Good.
Rose: But it had to do with barbequing elk, a big fire and someone who lost his balance.
      Dorothy: Got it.
      Sophia: Clear as a bell.

    • Sophia: You think they knew what the Black Plague was when one guy had it? Thousands had to die before they knew what it was. Dorothy could be dying and they just don't know it.

    • Rose: Dorothy you have to get help you're getting sicker and sicker.
Blanche: Just like my heroine, sicker and sicker. Of course my heroine doesn't look like you. This is a romantic novel, not science fiction.
Dorothy: Remind me when I'm feeling better to kick the crap out of her.

    • Dorothy: Tell me, how much have you written?
Blanche: Nothing that's how I know I have writers block.
Dorothy: Blanche you have to have written to have writers block otherwise we all have it.

    • Blanche: Now I know why Hemingway killed himself. Girls, I have writers block. It is the worst feeling in the world!
Sophia: Try ten days without a bowel movement some time.
Blanche: You just sit there, hour after hour.
      Sophia: Tell me about it!

  • NOTES (2)

    • This was planned to be the last season but Bea Arthur agreed to stay 2 more seasons.

    • In this episode, Sophia discusses how it would feel to have a child die before the parent. She would come to know exactly how it feels in the 6th season episode "Ebbtide's Revenge", when her son Phil died suddenly of a heart attack.
