The Bloom is Off the Rose

Aired Unknown Jan 05, 1991 on NBC

Episode Recap

Dorothy is surprised to see undomestic Blanche doing laundry. Blanche explains that it is for Rex, a boyfriend whom Dorothy gloats has stood up Blanche on more occasions than one. Meanwhile, Rose complains that her relationship with Miles is growing stale, and she longs for adventure. After Miles takes her to a thimble museum, Rose decides secretly to sign the two of them up for skydiving lessons.

When Rex comes over to the house, he is so rude and nasty to Blanche that Dorothy is compelled to speak up to her friend. Blanche brushes off Dorothy's concern and downplays Rex's treatment of her. When it gets so bad that Dorothy can't help but say something to Rex himself, the man grabs Dorothy's arm. When Blanche witnesses this, she orders Rex out of her house and tells him she never wants to see him again. In the meantime, Miles tells Rose that he can't compete with her exciting memories of Charlie and asks her to accept him, boring as he may be. However, when he learns that Charlie never jumped from an airplane, Miles decides to go for it, resulting in a broken leg but a triumphant memory for both of them.
