After Dorothy comments that people can sometimes lose their looks, Sophia says except in Sicily because the whole town sees to it; and that's why the family was so glad when Dorothy was born because they didn't need all of those people bothering them all the time. However, Dorothy wasn't born in Sicily, she was born in Brooklyn.
In the final scene, Rose mentions that there are eight children in her familiy. However, the only ones ever mentioned are Lily, Holly, and in this episode, Michael.
(About Blanche trying to get back with Ham)
Sophia: I wouldn't be so sure if I was Blanche. Sometimes these things weren't meant to be like me and Frabritzio Rabino. We were on the verge of a passionate love affair until Destiny decided to interfere.
Dorothy: Don't tell me His wife Destiny Rabino?
Sophia: (wide-eyed) Right. Boy did she have a temper she dragged him by the hair on his back, cracked his skull with a Ravioli Crank and threw his limp body into the River!
(Dorothy squints in discomfort)
Sophia: There's a Sicily you don't see on postcards.
Blanche: (laughing and humming, as in ecstasy, while eating cookies) Ha, ha, ha... hmmm, hmmm... oooh... mmm, mmm.
Dorothy: Blanche, are you in a good mood?
Blanche: Dorothy, you always could see right through me.
Sophia: Keep it up with those Chips Ahoy and Superman couldn't see right through you.
(Major Barker is visiting the house, looking into Rose's report of seeing a UFO)
Dorothy: Rose is the only one here who thinks she saw a UFO.
Major Barker: I understand, Miss Zbornak. By the way is that Miss Zbornak or Mrs? I'm hoping it's Miss.
Dorothy: Why, yes!
[slinks over and sits next to him on the couch]
Dorothy: As a matter of fact it is!
Major Barker: Good! I've already got that box checked on this form.
Rose: [Rose sees Dorothy looking through binoculars] What are you doing, Dorothy?
Dorothy: Oh... looking up at the stars... pondering the universe.
Rose: I've been doing the same thing... thinking how wonderful it would be if there really were aliens... maybe it'd be just like Cocoon... they'd take us away... and we'd never grown old...
Dorothy: See, I don't know. I like my life. I mean - I'm not president or anything, I'm just a teacher... a substitute teacher... a divorced substitute teacher... who can't even afford her own place to live - BEAM ME UP!
Ham: (upon realizing that Blanche wasn't the one who was bad in bed, and changing his mind about being with her) I'd settle for just a quickie.
Blanche: Beat it, tugboat.
Dorothy: Rose, there is no such thing as a U.F.O.
Rose: They were probably looking for someone to bring up to the ship.
Dorothy: Fine, then you stay out here, flag them down if they fly by again. I'll go inside and pack a bag.
Rose: But I want to be the one to go!
Dorothy: Whose bag do you think I'm going to pack?
Rose: So what's Ham short for Ham?
Sophia: My guess would be ham and potatoes.
Sophia: Your shoe's untied.
Rose: You're not going to distract me tonight. I'm too smart to fall for that. Besides, I'm wearing pumps.
Sophia: Your pump's untied.
Blanche: (upon seeing Ham for the first time) Why Ham...just look at you!
Sophia: What else can we look at the man's covering half the pictures on our wall!
Rose: (to Ham) I hope we'll be seeing more of you!
Dorothy: (covers Sophia's mouth) Don't even bother, Ma.
Rose: What we saw wasn't a plane, planes aren't that thin, or that bright.
Dorothy: Neither is Oprah Winfrey but that doesn't make her a U.F.O.
