I enjoyed this episode. The beginning alone was funny. Rose making Dorothy take the bike helmet was funny. I loved when Dorothy asked, "Where's Ma?" and Rose says, "In a cemetery in St. Olaf." Haha! It was funny when Blanche wanted to help Rose get off the phone and she says, "Rose! I've fallen and can't get up!" and Rose says, "I can't help you right now, Blanche! I'm on the phone!" I just couldn't believe that Dorothy would get back together with Stan. Stan got his little speech from the menu! It rocked! This episode was over all pretty good, as expected.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • If we are to believe Season 3's story of when Stan proposed the first time (he hid the ring in Dorothy's champagne), then this is the second time where Stan has proposed using food or drink (he put the ring in a potato this time).

    • NBC aired the previous episode, "Miles to Go" and this two-parter out of order. Which explains Rose mentioning Miles in part one.

    • Sophia said six years ago, Stan left "them", meaning he left Dorothy after the 38 years of marriage. But if that were so, they would've been married in 1947. They got married in 1949 when Dorothy was 17.

  • QUOTES (5)

    • Blanche: Maybe you could win your mother over in a more traditional way.
      Dorothy: Like what?
Blanche: Uh...set up a meeting, have Stanley ask for your hand.
Dorothy: What do you want me to do, Blanche, bow my head, kiss her ring? Hey, you know something that just might work, she thinks of herself as the Godfather, I'll just make her an offer she can't remember.

    • Stan: Eat your potato.
Dorothy: I know it's a very important vegetable to you Stanley but I'm just not hungry.
Stan: Then stick your finger in it.
      Dorothy: Stanley, you pig!
      Stan: Do it Dorothy!
Dorothy: Okay Stanley if it will make you happy. (Sticks her finger in the potato) There's something in here...something'''s a scalding hot ring!

    • Sophia: And when there is no trust, there is no family. You marry this man, and we're no longer family. You do this, you are out of my life forever.

    • Dorothy: The stripper used to be a cop and the cop always wanted to be a dancer. Now they're wearing each other's hats and it's getting really weird.

    • Sophia: You give that ring back and that's my final word!
      (Sophia comes back)
Sophia: No. You'll pawn the ring. That's my final word!

  • NOTES (1)

    • Dorothy: She thinks of herself as the Godfather, I'll just make her an offer she can't remember.

"The Godfather" is a 1972 movie directed by Francis Ford Coppola, based on the best-selling novel by Mario Puzo. The movie's most famous line is the Godfather saying "I'll make him an offer he can't refuse".

    • "Here comes the bride" is the first line of the first line of Richard Wagner's "Bridal Chorus."
