Episode Recap

Dorothy returns from a funeral for a friend of Sophia's, and is haunted by the thought that this woman was only four years older than her mother. She confides to Rose and Blanche that she finds herself trying to capture every little moment with her mother. Rose tells a St. Olaf story to try to help Dorothy in her dilemma, and while Rose is talking, Dorothy reads a brochure on the table about a weekend retreat and decides to take her mother there. Upon hearing this, Sophia opts to go to Disneyworld instead, and Dorothy agrees.

Blanche can't stop thinking about the characters in Rose's tale, and she begins sketching them. Rose collaborates with her and writes out the story, and the two agree to go into the children's book industry. Meanwhile, Dorothy gets on Sophia's last nerve as she tries to force quality time on her by making her look at old photos and slides in their hotel room.

Blanche and Rose have a disagreement over how the book should look and stop working on it together. They make up, only to have Rose discover that all the tales she'd heard as a child were from Hans Christian Fliederherden, and already written in a children's book. In Orlando, Dorothy finally comes to understand that Sophia needs to live out her life, not as a relic, but as a human being, and the two of them ride Space Mountain together.
