As a teenager, Josh worked for a performing arts company in New York called Stagedoor Manor. It was his success with them that earnt him his film debut in Hairspray (1988) and the role that put him in the public eye, Knox Overstreet in Dead Poets Society. In 1998, after several dormant years, Josh was cast in one of the leading roles in Aaron Sorkin's television dramedy Sports Night as the character Dan Rydell. • Julianna Margulies

    Alicia Florrick

    9.2
Julianna was born in Spring Valley, New York (just outside New York City), on June 8, 1966. She is the youngest of three daughters. Her father, Paul, is an advertising writer, and her mother, Francesca, is a former dancer with the American Ballet Theater. They divorced when Julianna was still a child. Shortly after she was born, Margulies and her family lived in Paris for two years before relocating to England. When she was five they returned to Spring Valley, where Julianna attended Green Meadow School. Five years later they moved back to England. At age 14, Margulies began high school in New Hampshire. She later attended Sarah Lawrence College. She majored in art history, spent her junior year abroad in Florence, Italy, and appeared in several plays before graduating with a B.A. in liberal arts. While looking for acting jobs in New York, Margulies waited tables for a year until winning a role as a prostitute looking to go straight in Out for Justice. Eventually, she supported herself by appearing in regional theater productions, at the Yale Repertory Theatre and the Asolo Theatre in Florida, as well as in national TV commercials. She guest-starred in a 1993 episode of NBC's Law & Order and then filmed Philly Heat, a pilot from Tom Fontana. Fontana later cast her in small recurring role as a waitress and violinist in his NBC series Homicide: Life on the Street. In 1994 she landed the role of nurse Carol Hathaway on NBC's medical drama ER. She left the series after six seasons. Many roles have followed, including critically acclaimed performances in The Mists of Avalon (2001) and The Grid (2004), both made-for-TV productions, and a memorable recurring role as Julianna Skiff during the 2006 season of the HBO series The Sopranos. • Matt Czuchry

    Cary Agos

    9.2
Before he became an actor, Matt was a popular guy. He played NCAA tennis, and captained his college team. Matt impressed the WB execs so much in his short stint on Young Americans in 2000, that they gave him a call again when they needed someone to play the rich, arrogant Logan on Gilmore Girls - oddly enough, Logan is a complete opposite to his character Sean, the poor townie on Young Americans. It just goes to show the capability that Matt has as an actor, playing two completely different roles to perfection.moreless

  • Chris Noth

    Peter Florrick

    9.0
Chris Noth was born in Madison, Wisconsin on 13 November 1954. In his youth, he traveled and lived in England, Yugoslavia, and Spain but never stayed in the same place for too long. Chris studied with Sanford Meisner before attending the Yale School of Drama.
The first time Chris Noth was noticed was in the movie Off Beat in which he played a minor role as Ely Wareham Jr. (the screen brother of Meg Tilly's character). Noth played bit parts for the next four years such as Baby Boom and the TV mini-series I'll Take Manhattan both in 1987, until Wolf Productions offered him a feature role in the TV series Law & Order. Noth played Detective Mike Logan from the summer of '89 to the summer of '95. Noth made this role his own and played it to the brilliance of any great actor. The character Det. Mike Logan is a young cop who is hailed as the "soul" of the series. Through the years, the character Logan was to become a very strong presence due to the talented Noth and the the great story lines in which Logan got into a number of close calls.
Noth was aided by a great cast of characters which included George Dzundza (season one), Paul Sorvino (season two and three), Michael Moriarty (season one to four), Richard Brooks (season one to three), Dann Florek (season one to three), Jill Hennessy (season four to six), and Steven Hill (season one to present). Many characters came and went while Noth starred in Law & Order, but at its peak in season two and three, Noth seemed at home in his role. Chris Noth's and Paul Sorvino's intimidating appearance, (each standing at 6'4" inches tall) made them an excellent "Batman and Robin" partnership together.
In 1995, Noth's contract was not renewed. This came as a shock to fans of the series as they saw the "heart" (Moriarty) forced out over TV violence and now the "soul". Noth continued to work in movies as well as TV, and in 1996 he starred in the successful TV movie Abducted: A Father's Love (which also starred Peter MacNicol) and in 1998 he became a regular on the smash hit series Sex and the City.moreless

    9.0
Michael is a great young actor in his 20's.He did a lot of shows while being in NYC.Michael has been in several plays such as the Off Broadway hit Joe Fearless (Atlantic Theatre Company), Whoa-Jack (Tribeca Playhouse), the undiscovered hit Mentalk and the 2001 AUDELCO nominated Reality (both by Tupu Kweli Theatre Company). When he moved to LA he began to do appear on tv shows, commercials, and movies. Ealy is proud of the family atmosphere "Barbershop" creates onscreen, and he's even happier that the close feeling among the actors and crew continued on after cameras stopped rolling. "We fought like a family, we laughed like a family, and we celebrated like a family," Ealy recalled. "I remember when we were working on the movie, Eve won a Grammy for 'Let Me Blow Your Mind,' which was her duet with Gwen Stefani. "When she flew back to the set the next day there was a big card that everybody had signed, and we took her out for a party later on the night. We wanted to let her know that she was definitely loved and supported from the cast. I think that meant a lot to her." Of course, every family has a head of the household, and Ealy was happy that this particular one was under the guidance of such gifted entertainers as Ice Cube and Cedric the Entertainer. "These are the people we used to watch on TV and the big screen in high school and college," Ealy explained. "We were moved by their work then, so to actually find yourself in a project with them years later is exhilarating."moreless
