  • HIlarious and well done show about the movie industry.

There are many great Goodies shows, topped by shows like "Hype Pressure", "Goodies in the nick", "Snooze", "Radio Goodies" and "Kitten Kong", but this is in my opinion the very best of them all! It starts with a great scene showing Bill's fondness for silent classics, combined with Graeme's "pocket movie camera", which leads to them puchasing "Pinetree studios" for Â£25.

Their evaluation of the current film production follows, including "Death in Bognor" and the sacking of all the directors.

Their own attempts at making the movie "MacBeth meets Trufo the wonder dog" follows, which is the only part of the episode that feels a bit cheap. Their following argument is terriffic though.

And then follows the last third of the episode, which is slapstick on a level that should be as much icon as Kitten Kong. It is packed with special effects, very well done, but not so well done that it isn't funny. You may argue that the special affects are dated in our digital age, but I think not; the analog special effects are imperfect in a way that makes them very funny, and you can't be funny that way with digital effects.

Bill makes a perfect silent classic star (nobody can jump like him), Graeme mimicks Clint Eastwood and Tim is an epic hero. And just when we catch our breath after laughing at that, Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton and Laurel&Hardy appears, the special effects are raised even higher, Julie Andrews gets it, and the heroes disappear in the horizon... and I am still laughing. Positively wonderful!moreless
