This episode has the first appearance of Billy's Grandfather.
Grim: (pointing at Frankenstein's Bride Billy, do you know who this is?
Billy: Your Mama?
Billy's Dad: Now look, Billy. It's not that I think you're (farts) girly for doing it. It's just think that you're not MACHOFORTE.
Grim: Uh, excuse me, sir? Do you have time for an informal survey? What do you think is more frightening, these three SCARY monsters, or this glass of water?
Man: (gasp) WATER!! Eh, eh, WATER!!!
Grim: Look, mon. I'll give you five bucks to think those monsters are scary.
Billy's Dad: Hey, Billy. (seeing Billy's soul getting sucked away by Ms. Pollywinkle) You forgot your dance bag in the car. Oh my gosh! An evil witch is using this ballet school to recruit innocent dance students so she can steal their souls! And now she's about to suck out Billy's soul!
Grim: Wow! That's pretty good! He got us faster than you did.
Mandy: Shut up.
Grim: Huh! Well, then. Maybe I should have mentioned that the only possible way a dark witch can overpower my scythe is by turning it into a giant snake and using it tie us up.
Mandy: Whatever.
"Home of the Ancients" is written by Maxwell Atoms' girlfriend Nina Bargiel, who has written other episodes of the series.
This episode was originally titled "Breaking Things to Billy" and "House of the Ancients".

In the Tagalog dialect in the Philippines, the word "mabuhay" means something like "hooray" or "cheers". It is often said during a wedding when the best man makes the toast to the new couple.
The Mabuhay Shuffle is actually the Chicken Dance.
The opening for this episode is the same as the one from The Bad News Ghouls / The House of No Tomorrow.
Running Gag: Mrs. Pollywinkle's name keeps getting mispronounced.
Freddy and Leatherface make cameos in House of the Ancients.
Credits: Grim introduces three retired monsters to the people on the streets and bribing them to think they're still scary.
Even though we get an episode focused on Billy's ballet ambitions, we never actually get to see him dance.
The two monsters that Frankenstein's bride says are more scary than them are similar to Freddy Kruger from the movie "A Nightmare in Elm Street" and the chainsaw psycopath from the movie "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre".
In the opening scene of "Home Of The Ancients," there is a space ship the looks like the "Enterprise" from the Star Trek series. Also the captin saing the into of Star Trek, but in this episode, before he could say "Enterprise", they smash into the moon.
Episode Title: Billy Idiot
It is a parody of the movie, Billy Elliot.
Fight: Billy's Dad vs. Mrs. Perrywinkle
This could be a reference to Xiaolin Showdown.
One of the names Billy says for Mrs. Perriwinkle is Molly Ringwald.
Grim: Some teenagers and a dog where driving through the woods in their Mystery Van when it broke down. (While Irwin was talking over the top) Two were hot, and two were not. There was a girl who couldn't see anything without her glasses.
This is a reference to Scooby-Doo show where several teenagers and their dog named Scooby-Doo drive around in their Mystery Machine and solve mysteries about monsters and ghosts.
Form and Shape: Mrs. Pollywinkle's Ballet School
Mrs. Pollywinkle's Ballet School looks a lot like Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.
