Who was the Episode MVP ?

  • Phoenix and Gum Troubles

I like the parts where Billy is having trouble with a phoenix that continues to reappear every time he pulls on its feather. Legends do show that firebirds do constantly reborn from the own ashes. Phoenixes are one of my specialties on mythical creatures. I heard that their feathers can be used to regenerate the person’s skin or body part. Phoenixes only feed on frankincense, not the Frosted Golden Apple Scraps cereal. The ending of that episode was pretty funny.

Endless supply of gum will only give you the most painful cavities ever. Billy wanted to chew gum, but swallowing them? Suddenly the whole thing turned into another bizarre episode. He refuses to share gum with others, especially Mandy. The whole “unimaginably horrible rash from another dimension” thing is quite amusing. Most people believe that rashes only come from within your body and skin with poor health results.

I like this episode comparing to the other ones I’ve watched. I like phoenixes and bubblegum. What about you?moreless
  • Above Average is good enough

I just thought it wasn't those kind of episodes that were "Wow!" or "Awesome!" but one of those episodes where I would think, "Pretty good, okay."

In The Firebird Sweet, a phoenix tackles Billy everytime he approaches the cereal box, so they have to go to "Eriszona" to find some "help." In The Bubble with Billy, Billy needs some gum to pass a test. So Grim summons up some bubblegum, but if Billy swallows it... you'll find out.moreless

  • QUOTES (13)

    • Billy: (to the Gumball Machine as it was about to leave) No, don't go! I still want you. I just want you to SHUT UP!!

    • Mandy: Hey, Eris!
      Eris: What?!
Mandy: You got a piece of food stuck in your teeth.
Eris: (looks at her teeth) No, I don't!
Mandy: (flicks the cereal piece into Eris' mouth) You do, now.
      Eris: What in the...
(The Phoenix gets at it, and has Eris' head in its beak)

    • Mandy: (threatens Billy with Grim's scythe) Cough up the gum or I'm gonna cut it out. (holds the scythe in Billy's face) So what's it gonna be?
Billy: If you do that, I'll…I'll…I'll…I'll…I'll…I'll… (grabs the bottomless gumball machine and climbs up the upholstery) If you do that, then I'll eat the entire bottomless gum machine, thereby creating various forms of havoc and other awkward situations. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
      Mandy: You wouldn't dare!

    • Mandy: (trying to be nice) Billy, we've known each other now for what seems like a nightmarish eternity. And though I insult you and lie to you daily, steal your stuff, make fun of you, your family, and anyone who looks like you, I still don't feel like I…ugh…know you. Why don't you tell me more about yourself?
Billy: If I told you, you wouldn't understand. I'm a very complex and multi-layed person. (blows tiny bubbles at Mandy and then speaks really rapidly) But if you really want to more about me, it's all here in my new autobiography. Hot off the presses! Complete and unabridged.

    • Billy: Psst. Hey, Irwin. You gots any gum?
Irwin: Well, I have a plum, a drum, even a tiny chum no bigger than my thumb. But no gum, yo.

    • Mandy: Okay, Billy. Hand over the gum.
Billy: No! (knocks Mandy out of his way) It's my gum! Tee, hee, hee, hee, hee, hee!

    • Grim: Well, that was a pretty good episode.
Mandy: Depends on what you mean by "good".

    • Harold: Good thing I had that ball of twine in my pocket or else we'd never get this thing home.
(The box of Frosted Golden Apple Scraps is lodged in the front seat while Billy is tied to the top of the car)
Billy: I think I see a low bridge coming up.

    • Irwin: Hey, guys. Since Billy isn't here, why don't we now call the show "The Grim Adventures of Irwin and Mandy?" Okay?
      Mandy: Shut up, Irwin.

    • Billy: I've got an unimaginably horrible rash from another dimension!

    • Mandy: Any other bright ideas, Grim?
Grim: Actually, yes. Why not use your feminine wiles to get him to talk?
Mandy: (ticked off) I hate Billy.

    • Billy: (looking inside the giant cereal box) It's empty, just like my soul!

    • Grim: All right! That's it! Where'd that stupid bird come from anyways?
Billy: (pulls the Phoenix's tail feather) It came from the Frosted Golden App- (the Phoenix reappears)
      Grim: A what?
Billy: (pulls the Phoenix's tail feather) The Frosted Golden App- (the Phoenix reappears and pulls the Phoenix's tail feather) It came from the cereal box! (The Phoenix reappears and Billy points to the cereal box)

  • NOTES (11)

    • Episode Title The Firebird Sweet

It is a parody of the Firebird Suite, a famous ballet performance.

    • Eris's factory looks like Isengard from Lord of the Rings.

    • Eris sprayed water on Thud just as some people spray water on a misbehaving pet cat.

    • The voice of the Gumball machine is mocking the character "Captain James T. Kirk" and the way actor William Shatner would say his lines with intentional breaks for dramatic effect. When Billy realizes that the gumball machine talks, the machine responds by saying he knows 42 different languages, including Klingon. Klingon was an alien race made infamous by the show Star Trek. He also says he speaks the binary language of Moisture Vaporators, devices from Star Wars, that C-3PO can communicate with.

    • Episode Title The Bubble With Billy

It might be a reference to a pervious episode in the series, The Problem With Billy.

    • Billy: Mess with the best, explode like the ....

This saying comes from the 1995 movie Hackers, which had a character called Dade Murphy who would say "Mess with the best, die like the rest."

    • Name: The Frosted Golden Apple Scraps

The name of this cereal happens to be a fusion form of other cereals. Frosted could be any other brand of frosted cereals, such as Frosted Flakes, Frosted Cherrios, etc. Golden is from the names, such as Golden Crisp, Golden Grahams, etc. Apple is most definately from the name of Apple Jacks. Scraps is a new name for a cereal. The white-bearded captain guy on the box is similar to Cap'n Crunch.
