When Tracy Middendorf (as Laura Donnellon) addresses the court, she quotes Nietzsche as saying "Family love is messy, clinging, and of an annoying and repetitive pattern, like bad wallpaper". However, the quote is actually from PJ O'Rourke.
Every time this quote is listed on the Internet, it's in a group of similar quotes, and one from Nietzsche always seems to precede it in the list. The scriptwriters may have misread the author in the list when they did their research.
Lulu is trying to help a recently released inmate get back together with his wife who is intent on divorcing him. In the episode, the ex-con is revealed to have been incarcerated for shooting the owner of a liquor store. Since he had been in prison in Pennsylvania for this crime, presumably the crime occurred in Pennsylvania. The problem is that ALL liquor stores in Pennsylvania are owned by the state, so unless a way was found to shoot and wound a non-living entity, the crime is impossible. Obviously poor research by writers who tend to know too much about L.A. and New York and not much else.
When Lulu and Nick meet in the incline, you can see Nick covering up his dinner with a napkin just before Lulu arrives. Cleverly done, it´s very "nickish". Nick wouldn´t want Lulu to see his mess.
The bus shown transporting "Gracie" is not a Pittsburgh bus. In Pittsburgh, the buses have the "PAT" (Port Authority Transit) logo prominently displayed.
Notice the reflection of the cameraman when Burton and Nick walk out of the hospital. You can see the cameraman´s reflection in the door.
Burton Fallon stated that his sister-in-law's ad agency was the biggest in Pittsburgh with revenues of $2M. That amount wouldn't even make the Top 25 list. The largest ad agency in Pittsburgh has revenues in excess of $600M!
I Pittsburgh isn't as big a market as LA or NYC, but, come on, its not East Podunk either and I would expect the writer (Pittsburgh native) to be aware of this.
