      An English Landlord arrives in Ireland, aware of the tragedy that befell the previous landlord. The tenants, represented by Michael Dolan try to air their grievances but when they are asked to leave, he is attacked. He is saved by two of the Phelan brothers, Sean and Conor, and by Michael. Townsend, the landlord, attempts to claim all outstanding rents by any means necessary, including impounding livestock with the aid of the local police but the locals resist, and Michael is killed during the fight.moreless
