  • Very sad episode.

    9.4
I love this episode. I teared up at the end when Dave was talking about his friend. I knew when he was talking that his friend had died. I think it brought a sense of realism to the show.

I thought it was very well written and dealt with the subject well. It was very shocking to have a character who had been in the background take center stage as he battled with disease. I think that what made the episode good was what happened to Rich was unexpected. The show served as important message to show the human side of a disease that at the time, many didn't understand.moreless

    • Angela Lee does not appear in this episode.

    • Josie Bissett does not appear in this episode.

    • The original closing credits consist of scenes of David and Rich from earlier episodes, with the song "That's What Friends Are For" playing in background.

    • Guest star/co-writer Tom Hodges reprised his recurring role back from season 4.
This was the first (and only) episode that Hodges and his character of Rich had returned to after being absent throughout season 5 and as well, was the last the star and role appeared of this entire series. It was explained in this episode that Rich was in Europe during season 5 and the previous episodes of season 6.
Furthermore, at the end of this episode and thereafter for the remainder of the series, Rich became dead due to AIDS. It wasn't explained how he
got AIDS, but it might had shocked the viewers.
