  • The perfect example of "The Honeymooners".

You know a "Honeymooners" sketch is perfect when Jackie Gleason likes to visit old story lines later in the run of the series.
The story is simple really - Ralph comes home, finds a note from a doctor that contains bad news and he thinks it's about him. This is the only "Lost" sketch to be entirely remade as a "Classic 39" and then later in "Color". With the exception of the disease name, in this episode it is Cerebral Monochromia the story lines are the same. In the episode "A Matter of Life Or Death" (see season 4) the additional scenes of Ralph selling his story to American Weekly magazine for $5000 are included as well as the name of the desease has changed from Cerebral Monochromia to Arterial Momochromia. And the color remake (see season 9) is an exact remake of this sketch. It really is quite amazing how a simple story is just so funny. I know the age old question surfaces, especially with the older sitcoms, whould these episodes work today? The answer is usually no. However I believe it's not always the material that should be questioned, but who is acting on the material. In this case the answer is still no - it wouldn't work today!
