  • Deja vu all over again: Banner and Magee in the middle of a wildfire and a woman doing atypical work amid a bunch of guys.

    7.0
After building up momentum in the latter half of season three with such notable episodes as "Equinox," "Deathmask" and the stellar outing "The Psychic," the year ends on an unremarkable note with this all-too-ordinary installment. Producers Jill Sherman and Karen Harris may have been among the most prolific writers for the series, but they bring nothing new to the table in this episode that rehashes too many elements from "Mystery Man," "Wildfire" and any other episode that has Banner falsely accused of some misdeed.

This episode also exhumes a bad habit the series developed early on by recycling stock footage and using it to excess. The scenes of the fire burning are noticeably grainy and from a decade or two earlier. And, worst yet, much of it just seems like filler to stretch the program to its require running time. Again, the cast, particularly guest star Kathleen Lloyd, makes it worth the while. And we never argue with seeing Magee act as a central figure in the plot. We just wish the third season had ended with an episode of higher caliber.moreless
