The Incredible Hulk

Season 2 Episode 4

Aired Friday 8:00 PM Oct 06, 1978 on CBS

  • Trivia

    • When the carburetor is misfiring, and Buzz and Irene get out of the car, they each have a line of dialogue that was clearly dubbed in later, as neither of their mouths moves a bit.

    • Whenever Sam & Ted were trying to get a soda out of the broken machine, the soda buttons were represented by actual cans of the soda. When David was doing the same, the buttons were still cans, but several of the cans were completely different than before. By the time Ricky got to the machine, the cans had become mere stickers of the can design and all of the designs were slightly different than the actual cans.

    • Alias: Simply known as "David"
Job: Utility Worker at Race Track
      City/State: New Mexico

  • Quotes

    • (Ricky can't get a soda machine to work. The Hulk walks up to the machine and rips the door off.)
Ricky: Hey, that was pretty neat! What kind of pop do you want?
(Ricky hands a can of grape soda to the Hulk.)
Ricky: I have to pay for this extra one.
(The Hulk starts to squeeze the can.)
Ricky: Not like that. Now let me show you. You take these two fingers here…. See, I can teach you because Buzz showed me. People used to laugh at me before I could do this. But it's not hard. You take these two fingers and you put them here and just pull back.
(Ricky opens the can and the Hulk follows his example, opening his can.)
Ricky: Right! And now you drink it.
(Ricky takes a drink while the Hulk watches him. Now the Hulk takes a drink and smiles.)

  • Notes

    • This is the first of 3 guest appearances for musician/actor Mickey Jones.  He also appeared in the episodes Long Run Home and Triangle.

    • This is Gerald McRaney 2nd appearance in the series. He previously appeared in a season one episode called Death in the Family.

    • This episode was possibly originally part of the first season because of the first season opening music. Either way, this was probably the first episode TAPED with the new Hulk Aura.

    • Ironically enough, an actor named Mickey Jones plays Ricky in this episode. Rick Jones was a central character in the Hulk comic books, as well as the 1982 cartoon series. Bruce Banner saved Ricky from exposure to the gamma bomb test explosion that turned him into the Hulk.

    • Jack Colvin (Jack McGee) does not appear in this episode.

  • Allusions

    • The movie that Ricky first watches on TV is "The Wolf Man", a story about a man who is inadvertantly transformed into a werewolf, and struggles to control his monster alter-ego, much like David Banner.
