AIRED:
Unable to craft their own invisiblity gland, the Chinese government sets out to steal the American one. Unfortunately, they have the idea that Bobby Hobbes is the invisible member of the team. Fawkes and Hobbes go into hiding, but Bobby gets nervous. After several chases, Hobbes apparently dies in a car crash. It's a set-up, but he turns up at his own funeral to look on from a distance, and is captured there by the Chinese. The Agency tracks him to the Chinese embassy, and Fawkes goes in to rescue him. It turns out the whole operation is a ploy to lure out the real American Invisible Man. Fawkes manages to escape with Bobby before they can drain the Quicksilver out of the gland, setting the place on fire.moreless

    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (2)

      • When Bobby is blocked by the delivery truck he spins his car around and drives past the Chinese agent's car, then both cars jerk around a corner. Yet when the shot changes again, it shows the Chinese agent's car back in the lot with the delivery truck.

      • At 16:04 while Darien and Bobby talk about why Bobby is checking the van for a bomb, the door behind Darien goes from being closed, to blocked open, to closed again between shots.

    • QUOTES (8)

      • Darien: And where's this "Agency Safety Net" I keep hearing about? You know, shouldn't there be another car just like that one, but with our guys in it?
Hobbes: Can't see them, that's all. Agency folks are taught to blend in a little bit.
Darien: Unless they were taught to dress like fire hydrants, I think we're screwed.

      • (Claire and The Official bickering)
Darien: (invisible) Hey, boss, just go "nana-nana-nana" right there and you win.

      • Agent Miller: Oh, no. I don't care what you say. We now have confirmed reports that you have got yourself an invisible man.
Official: You, sir, have a fertile imagination. (to Eberts) Did you know we had one of those?
Eberts: No, sir. At least I haven't seen him.
Official: Of course not, the guy's invisible. How could you see him?
        (both chuckle)

      • (Bobby's funeral)
Official: Bobby Hobbes was like a son to me. I remember sitting in my big chair, reading my field reports, getting angry at Bobby when he'd come to me and jerk on my pants leg, and say, "Hey, let's go play, Fat Man." That was his little term of endearment for me, Fat Man. I'd like to suggest that we retire that nickname in honor of Bobby Hobbes.

      • Bobby: Fawkes, nobody ever mistook me for you before, all right?
        Darien: Well, that's a relief.

      • Bobby: You know what the difference is between me and you?
Darien: Oh, yeah, I know this one. You're nuts.

      • Official: Look, gentlemen, there's a leak out there. And this is how we go about finding it. We get one of these Chinese operatives, put him into custody, find out how much they know about the I-Man project, when they knew it, and where they got it.
Eberts: It is therefore very important that you carry on as if everything is normal.
Darien: Hey, I start hanging out with Hobbes, normal goes right out the window.
        Bobby: Ain't that the truth.

      • Darien: A 20th century photographer named Man Ray said that, "An original is a creation motivated by desire. Any reproduction is motivated by necessity." My Quicksilver gland was created by my country's desire to have an almost unstoppable secret weapon. Another country's attempt to reproduce it was necessitated by the fact that we had it and they didn't.

    • NOTES (2)

    • ALLUSIONS (1)

      • The Official: Roger Moore
Fawkes' fake ID to get into the Chinese embassy is in the name of "Roger Moore" - a nod of the head to the actor who played 007.
