The version of this episode that the fans didn't vote for (the alternate choice for Hobbes) did in fact air in most markets in syndication. On the Region 2 DVD release of Season 1 (sold in two box sets) they featured both openings for this episode. The remainder of the episode after the teaser was the same either way.
(After recovering from Stage V Quicksilver Madness)
Darien: Hobbes, was there a guy in a revolving door, and I beat him up right?
Hobbes: Yeah, oh yeah, yeah. His head was bouncing around like that, bump, bump, bump, bump, bump, like that.
Darien: Is he okay?
Hobbes: Oh yeah, he's okay.
Darien: Thank God. Wait a minute, there was this dude, on a bike, and I did the little release thing, and he flipped...
(Hobbes makes the motion of the bike rider flipping over into the street)
Darien: He went over in traffic. Is he okay?
Hobbes: Oh yeah. He's all right.
Darien: Thank God...A mime.
Hobbes: The mime, oh yeah, there was a mime.
Darien: There was a mime; I beat the hell out of a mime. What happened to him? Is he okay?
Hobbes: Relax, he did not recover.
Darien: Thank God...You're kidding right?
Hobbes: He's okay.
Arnaud is now closer to H.G.Welles' The Invisible Man in that he is permanently invisible and has to be naked to be completely invisible.
