  • Hilarious episode where Roy and Moss pretend to like football to be accepted by real men and Jen's boyfriend looks like a magician.

This was another really funny episode - how do they keep such a high standard going? The scenes where Moss and Roy pretend to like football were absolutely priceless. Of course this lands them in all sorts of hot water when it turns out the football fans in the pub are actually bank robbers and get Roy to drive their getaway car for them. Jen's story line with the boyfriend who looks like a magician was less successful, I thought but still fairly amusing and did allow for Moss to comment that he thought looking like a magician was the worst possible look for a driving instructor, only slightly worse than a clown or a Mountie!moreless

So many laughs tonight in yet another great series 3 episode. I was worried about this show possibly losing its creative touch after most comedies close shop after two series (Extras, The Office and Fawlty Towers come to mind) but that is clearly not the case.

Here we saw Moss and Roy pretend to be fans of football. This resulted in some great comedy with Moss picking apart the logic behind organized sports and Roy ending up getting caught in a robbery. The car not making it up the ramp into the truck the first time was hilarious. I could have done without the weak attempt at shock humor with Moss and Roy kissing but there is a fanbase out there for that kind of comedy.

In a rare occurence Jen's storyline was also great as well. Such a clever idea having the guy she is seeing look like a magician, but not farfetched as it something everyone has probably thought about someone else at some point in their lives.

Just an all around great episode. Cannot wait for next week as Series 3 continues.moreless

    • Jen: I can't be seen with a mentalist. Do you know what he does for a living? He is a driving instructor. A driving instructor who looks like a magician. It's preposterous.
Moss: That's almost the worst look a driving instructor could have.
      Roy: So distracting.
Moss: Only clown would be worse.
      Roy: Or Mountie.

    • Jen: What's wrong with you two?
Moss: We've been hanging out with men.

    • Moss: (to Roy at the football match) Just promise me we won't do anything else with them. I want to go back to being weird. I like being weird. Weird's all I've got. That and a sweet style.

    • Moss: I'm a little bit scared and I want to leave.
      Roy: What?
Moss: We're in too deep, Roy. I'm worried they're going to find out I don't know what a pony is. We should go.
Roy: I'm not going anywhere. I haven't paid for a drink all night. And besides, once you get over the whole football thing, they're actually surprisingly easy to talk to. Maybe we're proper men.
Moss: Look. We're messing with stuff we don't understand. We're through the looking glass. Just promise me you'll not let this get too far.

    • Roy: What was that?
      Moss: What?
Roy: You were saying football things in a football voice. How do you know about football things.
Moss: Oh it's this new site. Basically it sends you a list of football phrases that you can use in normal conversation. Updated daily, it's great. I only use it so I can say something to the postman.

    • Moss: (watching the football game) Hooray, he's kicked the ball. Now the ball's over there. That man has the ball. That's an interesting development. Maybe he'll kick the ball. He has indeed. Apparently that deserves a round of applause.
