you can see his lips move when the puppets are supposedly talking and he is pretending it is not him saying all that racist or bigot crap. If you want to watch the Republican hate show then by all means check out dunham and his brigade of props that allow him to spew his bile but do not expect any funny lines to be said. It is not comedy by any means, it is an excuse to say anti-gay, anti-black, anti-Jew lines right out of the KKK hand book. if you expected a good ventriloquist you will be disappointed as Mr Dunham spent 30 years as a failure before he discovered the trick of using hate as his prop and now is a huge success. If you are a Republican and especially a member of the Tea Party and one of those who hate Obama you will love Dunham if you are a normal human with social sensibilities don't watch him, especially after you have eaten
I noticed this with almost every show Comedy Central makes starring a stand-up comedian. It sucks. I think the idea was good to begin with, but what I enjoy about Jeff Dunham on stage are his reactions to whichever puppet he is using, and interacting with said puppet. When he's up there with Walter talking about his sex life, then brings up "the Hurricane" it's a lot funnier than the doll itself getting a medical exam by an asian doctor. The humor is bland, and almost always directed towards homosexuals, or racist in some way. And the Nascar doll has to go. Unfortunately, Jeff Dunham has lost some of my respect that I had for him before the show. 3/10
The Jeff Dunham show is possibly the worst show on TV.
All of his stupid characters are equally as unfunny as they are unlikeable and offensive. Dunham relies heavily on racist, homophobic, and anti-semetic jokes that do not point out the ridiculousness of stereotyping, rather they are just Dunhams own stereotyping. There is a stark difference between ironically staing a stereotype to show the stupidity of the stereotype (i.e. what Sarah Silverman does); and just simply stating a racist comment for stupid, closet bigots to laugh at (which is what comedians like Jeff Dunham and Carlos Mencia do). These are just awful jokes (if you can call them that) that is fed to an audiance who have been weened by the redneck comedy, and no longer know what good comedy is.
On top of Dunham's poor humour, the plot lines to the various stories in the show are so clearly and disgustingly contrived. the scene In the first episode when walter and Jeff meet the gay therapist is remarkably stipid, and it is insulting to the viewer, or it at least should be, that the writers for this show believe we will buy into this B-S.
A quote from Paige Wiser of the Chicago Sun-Times best sums up the experience of what will happen while watching this show "At best, you won't laugh. At worst, you will weep for the half hour you have lost and destroy all the puppets in your home".
It is shameful that the network that carries great programs such as the daily show and south park, has the cpacity to air this atrocity.
I know that I overrated the show, but I almost only ever give two ratings. A 1 or a 10, and this show did not deserve a one. The show is really funny and I encourge people to watch it. It has some corny parts, but it has comedy from a lot of different view points. It has redneck humor from Bubba J, racist and prejudice humor from Walter, muslim humor from Achmed, and the rest from everybody else (especially peanut). Jeff Dunham did amzing work with his ventriliquism and this show. I believe that the Jeff Dunham Show will last a long time.
I saw Jeff Dunham live in AC over the summer where I got a sneak peak at his show (and laughed my a$$ off) and I had been looking foward to it ever since. The first episode wasn't great. It seemed like they tried to squeeze too much into the half hour and things didn't get as much time as they deserved (also I had seen a lot of clips at his show so I knew what was comming next). The second episode however was AMAZING. classic Jeff Dunham had me rolling on the floor laughing. I can't wait for next week and I hope this show lasts long (plus for you big fans like me the deal he signed for the show also gave him another tour which starts in 2010!!)
I'm not sure why Jeff Dunham and his shows always get bad reviews. Am I missing out on something? Well, who cares about what other people think? I'm actually a fan of Jeff Dunham, and any other GOOD ventriliquist. I like the characters he works with, in order from favorite to least favorite: Walter, Achmed the Dead Terrorist, Bubba J, Peanut. There are a few more, but I am too infamiliar with those. What I like about this show more than just ordinary performances that Jeff Dunham has done is that we get to see people like Walter and Achmed and the others go out and perform in real life situations like regular humans. (Of course we know they're not humans, but play along) For example, Walter goes to the doctor's office to get a physical - from a female doctor! That was funny. Then Achmed tries to get registration to become an official U.S. citizen, and with the help of decently-ok hillbilly Bubba J, fails; Epically! So, if you ask me, I'm not quite sure why people hate this show. Maybe I just haven't read the reviews of critics much - in other words, I might read a sentence or two before I decide that I'm not going to read the review anymore, since it's a bad one. But I would recomend Jeff Dunham to anyone, if they are "dumb" enough to not even of heard of him before!
