Strange, but I never really cared for her. I always
ranked her 7th at best, among the best major characters.

George, Louise, Tom, Helen, Bently and Mother Hefferson
all I found funnier and more likable.

Even Lionel I liked generally better.

She was a terrific SUPPORTING character, but her spinoff, Checking In, proved that she couldn't make it as a lead. Not like Florida (Esther Rolle), who was spunoff from Maude. You could tell, when they spunoff Florida, that they were hoping for a similar kit-making result from Florence, but they couldn't repeat their past success. Of course, back in the 70s, TV was spinoff-happy, much to the detriment of the originating shows.

She was funny. You couldn't have a show without her. She was the one who went at it with George all the time. I liked her best in the first few seasons.

I think that each( charater, actor and actress)hadtheir own places in the show, no one could have been replaced or cut out from it , otherwise it would definitelynot been the same as it was or looked like, each character had its own flavor to beadded in to the success of the show and contributed into making the show as it looked like back then , i guess what am trying to say is that theywere all importantand that i can't seriously imagen the show with out any one of them even the replacement of lionel jeffersons.
