People tend to think of "The Cosby Show" as the first to show a prominent professional Black family. However, The Jeffersons featured George as a newly minted millionaire who never forgot his roots. Louise was a prototypical black mom, who was a former maid, and now had a maid. Despite all the demographic aspects of the show, it never lost its heart. Sometimes a bit corny perhaps, the show never got to a point where it was no longer relevant. People always cared what George would do next.
It's true, the show greatly deserved a proper sendoff.
