Episode Summary

EDIT
Requiem for a Frog
AIRED:
Austin realizes that he made a mistake in evicting Ingrid from the show when he learns that he was indeed speaking with the wrong grandfather on the phone. Ingrid is returned to the show in the new "Circle of Life" ceremony. Bryce sends another message from the sky - asking if everyone saw his last banner. It's revealed that Austin and Piper were a couple not long before the show started. After playing a game with dolls of Austin and Piper, Tim and Amanda win a double-date with not-so-happy couple. Eleanor goes super-weepy after she finds out that Austin used a coupon from her coupon book - for a foot massage from Cammy! Drama erupts during the double-date and Tim and Amanda must convince both Piper and Austin to continue with the show. Everett, Bryce's frog, is taken away from Cammy and moved to the same trailer as Montecore the falcon. One of the producers reveals that Montecore decided that Everett would be a good snack and Cammy mourns the loss of the frog, but Tim doesn't want any part of it. There's another Pearl Necklace ceremony because Ingrid returned to the show and this time Eleanor rejects Austin's offer of a Pearl Necklace, forcing a sham ceremony where the outcome is already known.moreless

    • QUOTES (15)

      • Announcer: And tonight, who will die? Find out tonight on Joe Schmo 2.

      • Derek: Welcome back, love. We're all very happy that your grandfather is dead and that you are back in the game. Well, not that --- That came out wrong, obviously.

      • Eleanor: And we would, we would eat food... not that I like to eat a lot.
Tim: (interview) A really talented actress would be able to act that way, but she didn't know that she was --- you know, she wasn't --- that wasn't an act. She was just being herself.

      • Ingrid: ("romancing" Austin doll) I'm reading a really good book right now. It's about, um, the rise and fall of Communism.
Tim: (interview) She's like, yeah, "it turns me on." It's weird. I mean, Communism really doesn't do it for me.

      • Eleanor: This was my Coupon Book of Love for you! Not for other people!

      • Gerald: (acting like a sportscaster) Turning point, if I had to pick one, would probably be Eleanor's speech where she started to lose her mind.

      • Tim: I just love this alone-time I get with Piper. Wait, when I said alone-time, I meant not by myself.

      • Austin: This is drama.
Amanda: There's no drama. There's no drama.

      • Cammy: (interview, to Tim and Amanda) I have no idea how they're buying this. I don't understand why they're okay with dead frogs, and frogs eating donuts. Wake up.

      • Derek: Love. It's why we're all here. But tonight, one of you will be stripped of love's Versace evening gown, instead draped in rejection's ill-fitting muumuu.

      • Eleanor: But thanks to some of the wonderful friends that I've made here, I've learned that I am a beautiful, smart, kind and funny lady when I let myself be. And there are many guys out there who would love to spend alone time with me. So, my answer to your question is: no, I will not accept your pearl necklace. In fact, you can take your pearl necklace and your half-hearted locket and shove it up your (bleep).

      • Derek: Right. Well, it seems there are three of you and Austin can give three pearl necklaces. So, to make it official, why don't we continue anyway? Austin?
        Austin: What?
Derek: Let's carry on with the ceremony.

      • Derek: Tonight's rather shocking events prove the only sure thing about Last Chance for Love: that you can never be sure of a thing.

      • Ingrid: I got a pearl necklace!
        Cammy: I got one too!
Tim: And if anyone wants another one, we'll be upstairs.

      • Tim: (holding the "Pumperciser" like a gun) If you're into blasting ass, here is your toy.

    • NOTES (5)

      • When Derek appears to announce the infomerical, his "fanfare" theme changes from the normal regal tone to a sort of wimpy, off-key version. Rhett Reese, one of the show's executive producers, reveals that the fanfares were added in post-production and the cast and Schmos never heard them during the taping. Amanda surprised all the staff by humming the exact same tune right before Derek came in for the Falcon Twist in this episode.

      • No, Everett the frog did not actually die.

      • Started at approximately 11:09 P.M. and ended at approximately 12:09 A.M.

      • The title is presumably a reference to the film Requiem for a Dream.

      • Bryce was evicted by Piper in "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner," but it wasn't explained what happened to his frog at that time. We now know the full details: that Cammy took over care of the frog, but tried to make it eat junk food.

    • ALLUSIONS (2)

      • Derek: Derek: So, much like the example set by Simba and Musafa, here at Last Chance for Love we are having our own "Circle of Life" celebration.
Poor Derek from Britain couldn't get the name of the father from The Lion King and associated sequels correct. It's Mufasa. However, he was trying to reference "Circle of Life," the song written by Tim Rice, with music by Elton John, and performed by Tsidii Le Loka, popularized by The Lion King.

      • Derek: It seems their relationship was going quite well, but then it went from an episode of The Love Boat to a screening of Titanic.
Derek references a classic television show and the top-grossing movie of all-time when describing Piper and Austins' breakup.
