  • An episode with some great sketches.

This is a great episode because it introduces the Thirty Helens and Buddy Cole, and it has the Sketch Comedy: What is it?, Sarcastic Guy and Womyn Sketches. It's an overall strong episode with strong and funny sketches. Sketch Comedy: What Is It? is off the wall but basic. They act as an ensemble and it showcases their talent in the purest form, on a simple set with a basic premise and it's simply funny. Womyn is a sketch that also brings them together as an ensemble with a different goal and a pivotal theme on the show -- what they think it would be like to be women. There's some excellent quotes to be taken from it and it's refreshing take on what men talk about during a manly activity such as poker. It's entertaining to see them seriously contemplating issues such as periods, menopause and childbirth. Throughout the show, I just love the way that they're not afraid to get in touch with their feminine sides. Sarcastic Guy is one of their breakout sketches and one that's very quotable for KITH fans. Dave does an amazing job with inflection.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • In the "Sarcastic Guy" sketch, Dave keeps taking drinks of his beer, but the level never goes down. Look closely, he lets it touch his lips and then puts it back down.

    • In the "Sarcastic Guy" sketch, when Kevin's character is introducing himself, he accidentally spills some of his beer.

  • QUOTES (6)

    • Mark: Okay, gents: I'd like to be a dyke. (receives facetious comment "Who wouldn't?") Don't be crass, I meant that! I'd like to be buried in the sisterhood of womyn.
Bruce: Yeah, lesbians are so great. They get so much done in a day.
Mark: Yeah, yeah...know why? 'Cause they get it done TOGETHER, there's no competition. With them, it's "go team!" all the way.

    • Derrick: Look, I don't think there's any reason to be sarcastic.
Sarcastic Guy: Oh, I'm not being sarcastic! Noooooo! This is just a little speech impediment. I can't help it!
Derrick: Okay, I've obviously said or done something wrong to upset you...I'm just going to apologize and be on my way.
Sarcastic Guy: No,no, no, please stay. It's true--I've talked this way all my life. It's made things very difficult for me!
      Derrick: Yeah...right! (Walks away)
Sarcastic Guy: Hey, where you goin'? Come back! I really wanna be your frieeeend!
      (Turns to camera)
      I'm so lonely!

    • Mark: (Addressing Dave's wish that he could have a period) Well, that'd be, uh, pretty ridiculous you know, because I hear menopause is ugly.
      Dave: (Sarcastically) Oh?
      Mark: Yes.
Scott: Really? I heard it's great.
      Mark: What?
Scott: Yeah, I heard it's like taking ecstasy and a rocket ship ride all rolled into one.
      (Thoughtful mumbling around the table)
Dave: Well, we will never know, will we?

    • Mark: What's wrong with you? Having your period?
Dave: Well what if I was, huh?
Mark: Do you wanna step outside?
Dave: No, I just want to have a period, that's all. Just one a month, okay.
      Scott: Why?
Kevin: Well it could help a guy organize his time.

    • Kevin: Scram Spain! Shake a leg, France.
Mark: (Bruce and Mark back away) I ought to sell your eyes to my angry sister.
Kevin: They are gone friend! But I claim this chest, FOR MOTHER RUSSIA! Good morning!

    • Dave: (If he could have a period) Every month, I'd feel my body become fertile and I'd say, "No, I choose not to have a baby. Oh, rent's due."

  • NOTES (2)

    • This episode marks the first appearance in the regular series of one of the few long-running characters, Buddy Cole. His very first appearance was in the 2-hour "Pilot."

    • The "Sketch Comedy" sketch was taken out of a paid lesson Mark paid for back in 1982. It was supposed to make him a "better actor."
