"What are you going to do with a canoe in Queens?"

"What am I not going to do with a canoe in Queens?"

Such an obvious and overdone joke, but it worked here. This was an enjoyable episode of The King of Queens, and a real throwback to the glory days of this show. Nothing ridiculous like Doug buying an ice cream truck, just a great confrontation between the two key couples on this show: Doug and Carrie and Deacon and Kelly.

The Arthur and Spence storyline over finding work was enjoyable too. While the idea of Arthur getting a job at his age is crazy, that doesn't mean it is not funny to watch.moreless
  • Season 9, Episode 7.

    10
Amazing episode! Amazing acting, amazing writing, amazing idea... All leading up to the perfect episode. The plot was perfect. Deacon and Kelly buy a vacation home, and Doug and Carrie realize that it is because they are always paying for dinner, and movies, etc. So, Doug stabs himself in the foot with a butter knife so they can leave early and Deacon and Kelly would get stuck with the bill. It's hilarious! Doug says that Deacon and Kelly may have a vacation home on a lake, but that they have something more... That they have "this." Haha, great episode. 10 out of 10.moreless
  • King of Queens is back after it’s 3 month hiatus.

    9.0
Bit of a strange episode this one, maybe it was because of the 3 month break or maybe because the episode was mainly a Doug/Carrie vs. Deacon/Kelly story, however it was great to see everyone back and having Arthur taking Spence through the up’s and downs of job interviews was absolutely brilliant and ever so funny with eventually Arthur getting Spence’s job but lying on his C.V.

The main part of the story with Doug/Carrie vs. Deacon/Kelly was just another jealousy trip on Carries part with Doug going along for the ride and coming to a head with poor old Deacon and Kelly.

But alias with this episode we start to countdown towards the season finale.moreless

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • We get to see Deacon and Kelly's vacation home but we still have not got to see their first home they bought in "Move Doubt" from the previous season.

  • QUOTES (6)

    • Arthur: Look, Spencer, all day long I sit in that basement, doing the word jumbles and praying for death.

    • Doug: (to Carrie) You just slap a smile on your face, and you pretend you like it when good things happen to other people!

    • Doug: They got a canoe. I'll tell you one thing, that's coming home with me.
Carrie: Alright, what are you going to do with a canoe in Queens?
Doug: What am I not gonna do with a canoe in Queens?

    • Deacon: How much money do I spend on you at lunch every day?
Doug: Hey, we always split the bill in half.
Deacon: We don't split the food in half.

    • Carrie: We can save if we wanted to.
      Doug: Then why didn't we?
Carrie: "Why didn't we?" You're asking me, "why didn't we?"
Doug: You saying it's my fault?
Carrie: Excuse me, but I'm not the one who invests my paycheck at White Castle every night!

    • Kelly: We're so looking forward to having you guys come up to the house on Saturday. I mean, the weather's supposed to be great.
Doug: I gotta be honest. Unless the weather affects the cable reception, it's all the same to me.
