    Short answer: no.

Long answer: it depends. Season 5 won't be affected since filming has been completed for a while now. However, if the strike goes on for long (Spring 2008 and beyond) *and* Showtime picks it up for more seasons, then there's a chance that Season 6 is affected and there might be an even longer break than usual between seasons. But it's really too early to tell right now.

Besides which, I guess it won't be visibly affected in season structure, right? Surely only shows mid-production are the most harmed? Those are the programs were scripts aren't finished, seasons are shortened and stories not told the way they normally would be. If The L Word was picked up for a new season before the strike ended, then there would either be A. an entirely new team of writers, who would still write a full season, or B. just a longer wait. The actual season shouldn't suffer too much, I guess.

Depends on whether the current team is non-union writers to begin with. If they are (or members of another country's union, like the staff on Stargate Atlantis), then they won't be affected. But if the current writers are members of the WGA, I don't see them suddenly switching to non-union writers just to churn out another season more quickly.

And let's not forget that the show hasn't even been renewed yet (plus the rumors that Season 5 is the last season). =)
