  • Laurel & Hardy do battle with their landlord in order to keep their puppy in their apartment.

    8.9
Laurel & Hardy & Laughing Gravy. The boys get a lot of fun, fast-paced gags stuffed into one two-reeler. The destruction of the chimney, and the hilarious bath scene are perfect examples of what defines the Laurel & Hardy formula. Slapstick and facial expressions.

Charlie Hall is perfect as the wild and overzelaous landlord. He takes several high-speed pratfalls and plays off the boys flawlessly. Silent film comic Charles Dorety appears briefly as a drunk, and Harry Bernard can be glimpsed as a cop, but neither serve even the slightest purpose. The major drawback, at least of the two-reel version commomplace in the US, is a disgusting, revolting, and totally unfunny ending gag.moreless
