It was explained in earlier episodes that Sano can change towels into steel by holding his breath. However, in this episode, Sano showed no signs of holding his breath when changing towels into steel.
Sano: Come on Ueki! You know it's not power that wins; it's intelligence!
Ueki: I guess I have to go to plan C... whatever that is.
Karlpaccho reveals the reason why Sano joined Robert's Ten.
Karlpaccho got his hands on a bug known as the Death Pentagon from Margaret, Robert's God Candidate. Karlpaccho then secretly placed it on the back of Inumaru's neck. The Death Pentagon is currently sleeping on Inumaru's neck, and when Karlpaccho gives the word, the insect will wake up and immediately suck all of the blood out of Inumaru's body.
So, Sano agreed to join the Ten. If he took out 20 power-users, then the Ten will take the Death Pentagon off of Inumaru.
