Hugo and Hooft are loose caricatures of Bob Hope and Bing Crosby (though there's little physical resemblance), famously paired in a series of "Road to" buddy pictures. Dave Thomas and Joe Flaherty (who provide their voices) are alumni of Canada's "Second City" comedy troupe.
