  • The First Time June Cried

Just as June was about to leave Orchid Bay to Space Camp, two leprechauns unleashed the most powerful little creature to terrorize the city. A bombat is also very cunning when it comes to disguises and transformations. June had less than six hours to catch the bombat. At the end, June noticed there's a force field preventing her from ever leaving Orchid Bay. That's when I saw the tears rushing down from June's eyes. I feel really sorry for her. However, Ah-Mah intends to find June a way out of Orchid Bay.moreless
  • The First Time I Saw June’s Tears

As June was about to leave Orchid Bay to Astronaut Camp, someone let the Bombat escape into the outside world to cause chaos. June had to bring it back into its cave for hibernation. At the end, June notices that there is a barrier preventing her from ever leaving Orchid Bay. This is the first time we saw June’s tears rushing down from her eyes. I feel sorry for the Te Xuan Ze, but Ah-Mah won’t let June stay in Orchid Bay for a long time. Ah-Mah promises June that she’ll find her way out of Orchid Bay. The ending was really funny after June gave the 6 foot Leprechauns a wedgie and hung them on the tree branch, just like from the first episode of Ben 10.moreless
  • June and her family plan to go on vacation, but before departing, the Te Xuan Ze makes sure to tie up all loose ends...unfortuneatly, a bombat escapes thanks to the help of two hippie monsters and the hilarity ensues...moreless

It was an all around funny episode...nothing out of the ordinary, and was one of the best episodes shown in the second series...Monroe and Ray Ray stole the show with their stint in the competition, but June took it home with that bombshell of a newsflash regarding the Te Xuan Ze\'s duty...

Seeing June try desperately to break free past the barrier that separated Orchid Bay from the rest of the world was an emotional scene...

    Thumbs up...moreless
  • Amazing.

June spends the whole episode trying to get her affairs in order so she can take a week off, only to find that she can never leave Orchid Bay City. Bummer. Even Buffy could leave Sunnydale, she runs away for the summer between seasons 2 and 3 after her mother finds out everything about being a slayer and her relationship with Angel. Seeing June breakdown, beating her fists against the barrier, it really choked me up. I hope there's a good college in Orchid Bay, otherwise she's going to have some explaining to do to her parents as to why she won't be going to college after high school. Her inability to leave has other ramifications too, her band Short Angry Freuds can't leave town, no school trips. no family vacations. as June said, "This stinks."moreless
  • Funny, interesting, and we find out that Juniper can never leave Orchid Bay.

This was a very good epi. because Monroe takes the dog show seriously even though he didn't want to be in it in the first place. Plus, we find out that June can't physically leave Orchid Bay until another person takes her place as Te Xuan Ze, but Ah-Mah is trveling the world to find a way for June to not be confined in Orchid Bay. This part of the story leads me to believe that this problem might come up again in a future epi. to probably solve it or find a way closer towards solving it. Anyway, to end this review I give this epi. a shining stars 10!moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • This episode insists that magical creatures don't know what drinks are, although in It's the Great Pumpkin, Juniper Lee, we see that they know about human food.

    • Jeff was credited as Leprechaun #1 in this episode.

    • When a person's name has "the 5th" as a title, it implies that his father and the three grandparents before him had the same name. However, Monroe's father's name is William. So Monroe should not have a number on his name.

    • If the Te Xuan Ze can't to leave Orchid Bay, does that means June's ancestors lived in North America centuries before the born of the American Union? (June is most definitely of Asian anscestry. Perhaps Orchid Bay has not always been the city that has been the link between the world of humans and the world of magic.) (Response: It might of been so only when the worlds were seperated that the condition came into effect.)

  • QUOTES (4)

    • (after seeing his competition)
      Monroe: Somebody just kill me.

    • June: Could you give me a lemonade?
Bombat (disguised): At once.. eh, young lady.
(The bombat gives her a hot dog)
June: I asked for a lemonade.
      Bombat: Here is...
      June: It's a hot dog.
Bombat: Oh yes eh, no problem.
(The bombat gives her a microwave)
      June: It's a microwave.
Bombat: Ah, oh, you asked for that kind of lemonade, yes is just that I though you wanted the lemonade with microwave form, we're proving it and you'll see... you're not believing me, right?
      June: Not even a word.

    • Monroe: Oh, the Dump Truck, delicious, the new like flavor tuna, bacon and onion is great!
Ray Ray: Yes, but can't be compare it with the supreme line of beef and salmon, have a smoked flavor.. oops, I heard that.
Monroe: Hey, having all a refrigerator to devour, do you eat my dog food?!
      Ray Ray: Just a little.

    • Monroe: Oh, look, its cute, is a little rabbit, hi little, did you went to look carrots?, is not cute?
June: Yes, cute, and also have a pair of extra legs
(The rabbit see its extra legs)
      Bombat: Oh man.
(The rabbit transform in the bombat)
      Bombat: I'm out of practice.

  • NOTES (14)

    • At the end of the episode, Jeff and his buddy are hanging from the tree by their underpants thanks to June. This is similar to the first episode of Ben 10, where Ben (as XLR8) left the two bullies hanging from a tree by their underpants.

    • June's interest of becoming an astronaut is similar to Danny's from the Nickelodeon series, Danny Phantom.

    • The way June is trapped within the limits of Orchid bay is similar to the way in the Fantastic Four, Galactus, after Silver Surfer betrayed him, created a cosmic barrier to keep Silver Surfer trapped on Earth.

    • The title is a play on words from the movie, "Dog Day Afternoon" with Al Pacino.
