Olivia and Osman wants answer on why Toby is acting weird as of late. Toby goes on a mission to try to find a missing teenage girl, Marks thinks there is something wrong with Toby and finally she thinks that Toby is playing a game. Toby finally admits the truth to Osman and Osman thinks is the coolest thing in the world which surprised Toby. It's great Toby has a friend that knows the truth on what he can do, I think he's a true friend now. Now he has someone to talk to about his situation whenever something comes up which I think will make the show even greater can't wait to watch more. Oh, P.S. this show is getting funnier and better especially when Osman was asking his supervisor for some strink help for his friend by in friend he means Toby. And his supervisor thinks its him that is having the problems its very hilarious. Great fun...moreless
  • WOW ... uh ... that was LAME!! Seriously, that was the crappiest thing I've ever forced myself to watch!

    1.0
I didn't think this show could get any worse, but DAMN was I in for a surprise! I can now officially say the cast sucks big time ... including the "cute lead". The characters are getting more irritating by the minute, and there is no story, no plot, no dialogue ... I've never seen so many clichés stuffed into one show! The problem with this show is that it's too ridiculous and yet it takes itself seriously, I mean, there are plenty of over-the-top shows out there, but I don't mind most of them because they can be quite entertaining. The Listener, however, is trying to pass itself for a drama without even having a proper story line!

So now Toby has a brother, but doesn't remember where he is or what happened to him. He's suddenly embracing his "gift" so willingly after years of trying to shut it down. And he just found out how great telepathy can be for trying to mend things with his ex. Oh and this Ray character keeps showing up out of nowhere with his "deep insight" into pretty much everything in life.

Really, the only reason I'm watching this show is because it airs here first and this is the first show that I get to watch before anyone on the internet can spoil for me. That excitement has ended kinda abruptly as you can see, an yes I'm in a bad mood today.moreless
  • Toby learns from a homeless man that a young girl is being held against her will.

    8.0
Another entertaining episode. Toby learns that a girl is being held captive but can he save her in time?

Missing or kidnapping cases rarely have happy endings but since we have a show about a telepath, the outcome would be different.

I think the writers do a decent job of incorporating real stories with the plot of the show. We see all the basic elements that the victim goes through. Toby uses his powers to find out who she is and tries to find her location.

Detective Marks still has yet to trust him, so Toby again is saving lives solo. Oz meanwhile thinks Toby is crazy. Ray knows he isn't and tries to offer advice.

Does Toby have a brother? Is Ray really helping him?

These questions weren't answered but what was answered is that Toby shared his secret to somebody he trusts in the end. Toby seems more accepting of his powers with every episode. The acting by the guest stars was decent. There were a lot of well shot scenes. The scenes leading to the climax were intense even though you knew how it would end.moreless
  • Its getting there...

    7.0
...but will it ultimately make it?

The story itself was better this episode, and the series has more places to go now that Toby has someone else on line about his gifts. My list of "buts" has been reduced somewhat, BUT:

    1) Toby is never at work, even though his partner is., and there is as yet, no good scripted reason why not.

    2) Its still highly implausible to me that this paramedic gets away with so much interference in criminal investigations. That's what his role in these stories amounts to, and nothing the writers have done so far can compel me to make that viewer leap of faith.

    3) With the possible exception of the cop, I could care less about any of the other characters. I am really disappointed with how poorly an actor like Colm Feore is used. He could be rescuing this series.

With series like "Murdoch Mysteries" in its stables, I am surprised Shaftesbury Films has been this slow out of the gate with this show. Still, there was a bit of progress with this episode...moreless

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • Goof: Towards the end of the episode, before Toby arrives at the storage lockers, we see Donald switching out the key operated padlock with a combination padlock. Earlier in the episode, when Taz shows Toby where to find Ashley, the combination padlock is already on the door.

    • When Toby saves Ashley, he turns the valve of the wet standpipe (fire hydrant) anti-clockwise, which opens the valve, instead of clockwise which closes the valve.
