    Whats that about ?

I'm assuming, its about Ariel's life before she became human, but then again that doesn't sound right, because I thought that was the purpose of the series. Then again Ariel could be younger than she was in the series. Who knows maybe we'll know why Ursula was kicked out of the castle, and maybe get a backstory on what happened to Ariel's mother or for those faithful to the book, Ariel's grandmother. Maybe we'll see Urchin in this one.

I don't think it will tell about Ursula getting kicked out of the castle, simply because that was an original theme in the Little Mermaid.

Which books are you referring to about her grandmother?

In Hans Christian Andersons original tale. Ariel's mother is long dead and her grandmother is the one who stays to raise her and her sisters. I know in the original Ariel dies, but its such a beautiful story.

Wait, they want a 3rd movie??? The 1st was great, the 2nd was a failure, the series was great (not as great as the movie)... seee, this is why I dont like modern-Disney. I'm planing on reading the book, I've heard good comments from it.

The book was indeed fantastic, but I ended up crying at the end.

I don't think the second movie was a failure at all. I mean, it wasn't as good as the first but its definetly better than some  of the Disney classics.

Well, its going to be a prequel, and in the preview i saw they were singing a song that was on a Little Mermaid cassette I had when I was little (I don't know if it was on the show or not). Maybe Ariel's mother was killed by Ursula? I'm excited. This is going to be the last Disney sequel/prequel/midquel, supposedly... there won't be any more sequels not tied to a consumer products line (so characters and movies in the Disney Princesses and Disney Fairies are the only ones who can have new movies). I actually like most of the sequels. Most.

I'd love to know- which Cassette???

I think Ursula killing Ariel's mother would be too violent for Disney...i always thought it was something to do with humans actually...

I think that yes it is a prequel, but I don't know how it fits in with the other movies and the show... can't wait to ifnd out!!

It must also be said that that is the most bog USELESS trailer ever!! I haven't got a clue what its about.

Props for the scene blending from the first and second  movies and for creepyness. If there was more, I would say it was a totally good build up part!

That's what they did with the Cinderella III trailer: used footage from the first two movies as a teaser. On later releases, the teaser came with new footage of the film, as this one will.

The song was on a cassette that *I think* was called Splash or something. It had a second part of the title (eg. Ariel's Undersea Songs, or something to that effect).

What if Ariel's mother was somehow killed by humans, which is why Triton hates them so much?

I don't think TLM III will be ad.  In fact, I'm looking forward to it!  I HATED the book!  I grew up o nteh Disney version and that's the one I stick to.  It's Ariel's mother, NOT her grandmother.  HER MOTHER!  Her nam name is Athena or something along tose lines.  I can't wait for this movie!

I suspect it will be something about her mother, but it is a Disney film, they can't go so indepth with it. Plus, its a third one, so I'm not quite sure what to expect. Beauty and the Beast had an alright third piece, I loved the last Aladdin but it wasn't as good as the original so that's what I'm expecting from this too.

Maybe it is like "Beauty & the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas". Ariel telling a story that happends during the first movie or something.

The Little Mermaid III (working title) is an animated feature film, a second direct-to-video sequel to the 1989 animated film The Little Mermaid after 2000's The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea. It was once thought to be cancelled, but the rumor was debunked after the October 2006 Platinum Edition DVD release of The Little Mermaid was revealed to include a sneak peek of the film. [1] It is slated for a February 2008 release.

The movie will be the final direct-to-video sequel produced by Disney, as, on June 22, 2007, the Walt Disney Co. announced a major restructuring of its animation department, which included a decision to stop producing their "lucrative yet lower quality" direct-to-DVD sequels spawned by the studio's most successful feature titles.

Her mother is going to be in it? The tv show was a prequel to the movie, as proven by the couple times Prince Eric was in it and he was younger. Only once was her mother mentioned in the show, during the episode when Ariel and Arista were fighting a lot. How much earlier could the movie go?

I do like the idea though because it will be the first Disney movie where the main character actually has two parents, other than Lion King, but Mufasa died, so even that was a bust. Bambi had two, but the mother early as well.
