Toon Disney (ended 1994)
Yup, there will be a Little Mermaid 3.
|Wait, they want a 3rd movie??? The 1st was great, the 2nd was a failure, the series was great (not as great as the movie)... seee, this is why I dont like modern-Disney. I'm planing on reading the book, I've heard good comments from it.|
nah. the 2nd one i thought was much better than the first. but im afraid to see the 3rd one. looks kinda awrkward cos they showed her daughter and then they suddenly went back to her past. weird.
|I agree with the previous post, but I have one MAJOR problem. Why is the bad guy not URSULA? In the original movie, she talks about how she used to live in the palace. I am more interested in how/why she lived in the palace and was then kicked out more than I am about some unhappy nanny. |
More issues, though these don't bother me as much as the MAJOR one above (and the movie wasn't all bad because I think Athena was great, and it was cool to see the sisters' characters developed):
1.The music thing is a copy from "Footloose," so it could have been more original, but still, it makes sense because even in the first movie, one might question why Triton was so against the surface world. It makes sense that a major death, especially of his wife, would cause him to hate ships/humans.
2.Why is Atina the oldest? In the first movie, Aquata is the first in the song, so shouldn't she be the oldest? Atina, even in the show, came off as being the most mature, but still...
3.What caused Flounder to become the nervous wreck he was in the show and in the first two movies? What changed from him being so positive in this movie?
4.In the first movie, Sebastian made a big deal about taking charge of Ariel, like it was new to him. However, this movie, and the show, have him doing it, and both occurred before the first movie.
5.What caused Ariel to become so facinated with the human world? She was so happy at home after returning music, but there was no mention of her love for humans. My only guess is that her free spirit developed that love some time after this move, when she considered time spent at the surface with her parents, but still, this is another concept not explained in the prequel.
My rating: 7.9 out of 10.
The first two were better, hands down, for several reasons...
1. Some of the original voice actors did not return. e.g. Flounder
2. Ursula was not in it! Neither was Urchin. I had hoped we would see the origin of Ursula. It made no real reference at all to the series.
3. The plot could have been improved...in several ways.
4. Mistakes! (like when Marina Del Ray appears as a train conductor, trains were not even around then!)
Pros: I have to admit, the meaning and the story were good. The music was pretty good too.
