The Lively Arts is a British television program that aired weekly from October 3, 1961 to June 24, 1964. The series focused on many types of artwork, different cultures and performances. Artists, gallery owners, performers and professors were often interviewed on their feelings and opinions on the various art pieces and cultures being covered on each show. Some of these interviews were filmed and others were purchased from other BBC stations and used during the show. Many art workshops and live performances were filmed during the series and the actors, and workshop teachers were interviewed and filmed as well. The series aimed to take viewers inside the art world, subject them to the various types of art and performances and help them relate to the people who bring their dreams to life through their paintings, drawings, dances and various artwork projects. The Lively Arts was produced by Vincent Tovell, Barry Harris and Milan Chvostek.
