  • John Ritter's the only reason to watch this episode.

The early episodes of the Love Boat were pretty good since they hadn't yet settled into the same, old formulas and they often filmed scenes onboard actual Princess ships. As the second episode of the series, this was one of the most watchable, if sometimes painful. I could have done without seeing John Ritter in drag, almost as sad a sight as Tom Hanks in "Bosom Buddies." Still, Ritter was in his "Three's Company" prime, with great comic timing. The other two stories weren't as good. Sherman Helmsley essentially played George Jefferson as the Sausage King, only with Lawanda Page playing his thoroughly unlikeable wife. The last segment, with Jaclyn Smith and her future (now former) husband Dennis Cole, was dead serious with no comedic bent. Amazingly, the two had no on-screen chemistry.moreless
