    There have been only two serious tV dramas about the problems of state and local government. One was the once highly praised, but now largely forgotten, Slattery's People, starring Richard Crenna asa a state legislator. The other, even more obscure show was The Man and The City, featuring a bigger star than Crenna, Anthony Quinn as southwestern city mayor Thomas Jefferson Alcala, and Mike ( Farrell as his assistant. This show garnered an Emmy ( for Daniel Petrie for directing the and got some good reviews. In addition, it wa screated by the talented Howard Rodman,who also helped create Harry O. Unfortunately, the show was in the same time slot as Night Gallery and Mannix, and venished form the airwaves after 15 episodes. Another show on which there is almost no data to make an informed judgement.moreless
