  • Phyllis gets her real estate license and in typical Phyllis style, goes after every carbon-based life form to make some sales. Despite Mary\'s protestations, Phyllis convinces newly single Lou to put his house on the market.moreless

This is an episode that starts off rather weakly but gets stronger as it progresses. Phyllis is as intolerable as ever and at this point in the series, I started to wonder how she and Mary ever became friends in the first place. The true standouts in this episode are Ted Knight and Edward Asner.

By season 4, it was apparent that the audience loved Ted Baxter and so Ted was inserted into scenes when he didn\'t even need to be there but this is a win-win situation; Knight makes the most of every scene he\'s in and his breakfast table scene at Lou\'s is another highlight.

Asner as Lou commands this episode. He goes from gruff to lovable to heartbreaking. The scene when he shows Mary that he took time to make her breakfast adds another lovable layer to Lou, and the moment when he shows Mary the wall where he used to measure his daughters\' is poignant. (This scene isn\'t entirely feasible as only a couple seasons earlier, Rhoda redecorated and painted his place, but no matter ...) A highlight of Season 4.moreless
