I wanted to be Mary but was definitely more like Rhoda. Too brainy so I intimidated men, haha

Even though I'm a guy, I can relate most with Rhoda, mostly because of her personality. She always spoke her mind whether or not she should have, regardless of where she was or who was present.

Back when the show first aired, I could identify with Mary because she was such a pushover at first. What a wimp, LOL She let so many people walk all over her until she finally started to develop a backbone. But I could relate to Mary in the first few seasons of the show.

Mary was a bit of a pushover, and even referred to herself as such in one of the episodes I just watched ("The Snow Must Go on"). There was something inherently sweet about her "shrinking violet" nature, though. My husband watched this particular episode with me the other night and remarked how cute she was when she was standing there, trying to direct the crew in lieu of Lou, and everyone walking past her oblivious to her wishes. (He probably secretly wishes I were more like her and less like outspoken Rhoda, haha).
