Who can turn the world on with her smile?
Who can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile?
Well it's you girl, and you should know it
With each glance and every little movement you show it
Love is all around, no need to waste it
You can have a town, why don't you take it
You're gonna make it after all
You're gonna make it after all
How will you make it on your own?
This world is awfully big, girl this time you're all alone
But it's time you started living
It's time you let someone else do some giving
Love is all around, no need to waste it
You can have a town, why don't you take it
You're gonna make it after all
You're gonna make it after all

So, the theme song actually has two stanzas?  The second stanza, starting with "How will you make it on your own?", was the song used for the first season.  And, instead of "you're gonna make it after all", it says "you might just make it after all."

One of the authors for Mary's theme song was a guitarist/singer from The Doors (and no, How Will You Make It On Your Own doesn't sound a thing like Light My Fire)

I agree, and I  liked how they changed the lyrics from "you might just make it after all" to "your gonna make it after all"  to show that she did make it.

I loved the show and they don't make shows like that anymore!

I'm pretty sure there is something off with your lyrics (Sorry if I'm wrong). I will need to review my DVD's and get back to you. There is one mistake I can say now. It's supposed to be "You can have THE town. Why don't you take it?" Anyways, I'll get  back to y'all on the rest.

Definitely (whatever version) one of the greatest TV theme songs, along with the "Bonanza," "Hill Street Blues," "Friends," and "Maverick" theme songs.
