As Mary and Rhoda are discussing plans for their upcoming trip to Mexico, Mary mentions that she knows a little bit of French. She also declines knowing any Spanish. In another episode, ("Divorce Isn't Everything") the exact opposite is mentioned, during a discussion involving taking a trip to Paris.
Mary: Gustavo here is the nice man who arranged for Rhoda and me to go to San Leon. He owns that new Mexican restaurant down the street.
Ted: No kidding? Last time I had New Mexican food was when I worked in Albuquerque.
Rhoda: (referring to her foreign language skills) French and Hebrew in Mexico. It's going to be a weird vacation.
Rhoda: Mary, I came to Minnesota because of the cold. I figured if I was frozen, I'd keep better.
This episode was filmed on July 16, 1971.
Lou sends in a request for a news-chopper, after hearing about "that station with the helicopter in Los Angeles." This was in reference to the Southern California television station KTLA, whose telecopter was the most advanced airborne television broadcast device of its time.
