  • Cobbled together plotline

    7.0
The plot to this one just seems kind of cobbled together to me, with the poker game acting as a space filler...and then Murray's obsession thrown into things to give them something dramatic to work with in that situation. Somehow I find it hard to believe that Lou wouldn't have heard/known about that before. Still, Lou Grant on the loathesomeness of snow was quite enjoyable, as was Ted's final flub (you knew it was gonna happen of course, you just didn't know how).moreless

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Murray: I'll see your ten, Ted, and raise you...twenty.
Ted: I know what you're doing, Mur. You're...(consults notes) bluffing!

    • Mary: Dr. Ames is in the hospital.
Mr. Grant: Well, have you tried there?
Mary: He's in the operating room.
Mr. Grant: They have phones in the operating rooms, Mary. Use a little muscle!

    • Mary: Listen, when you knocked I was thinking of putting some turnovers into the oven to get all crispy and warm.
Rhoda: Oh, yeah. That sounds really good.
Mary: OK, they should be ready to eat in about twenty minutes.
Rhoda: Eat them? I thought we were going to wear them!

    • Ted: You still playin' tonight, Gordo?
Gordy: Wouldn't miss it for the world, Ted.
Ted: (consults notes) Does, uh, three of a kind beat a flush?
      Gordy: The other way around.
Ted: Three of a kind does beat two of a kind?
      Gordy: Right.
Ted: (consults notebook again) What's "a kind"?
Murray: (to Mary) All right, I'll play.
