Rather disappointing episode about what would happen if certain characters married Mary. You know the writers have been lazy when to have to rely on jokes about baldness. The depictions of alternative presents and futures show a lack of imagination, especially in the 'Lou & Mary in fifty years' time' clip. Come to think of it, that would be set pretty much near today's reality. The offices at the television station haven't changed a bit, though. Was there no money for set design? If certain scenes work anyway, it's because the characters are so well-defined.moreless

  • QUOTES (1)

    • Murray: I think you and Mary would have a terrific marriage.
Lou: Nah! Mary and I are like brother and sister. It would never last.
Ted: Why not? I've had the same sister for forty years.

  • NOTES (3)

    • This episode was filmed on January 14, 1977.

    • In Lou's fantasy sequence, taking place 50 years into the future, the elderly Mary receives a post cart card from Rhoda, in which Rhoda states she is still waiting for Joe to come home (referring to the separation storyline on Rhoda).

    • The short nightgown Mary wears in Ted's fantasy sequence is the same nighty Rhoda gave Mary when she went in to the hospital to have her tonsil removed (ep. 20, "Hi!").
This nighty had appeared in a handful of episodes since then, but here it would make its final appearance.
