Has anyone heard if this great series will be released on DVD? I have a copy on VHS of the whole series, but would prefer to have it on DVD.

I recorded it on VHS when it originally aired, and was able to transfer the 13 episodes to One DVD-R. The quality came out fantastic.

I consider it a real treasure.

I have the original VHS still too. I hope they put out a DVD version though, because they cut out a few things (like the Mako fight) in order to fit it on a VHS tape.
I couldn't find any news on a DVD release though

Yeah Mako was the only crossover character (i believe) from the comic that appeared in the animated series.
I wish that the Savage Dragon story had been animated too but i guess it would have been too confusing to newbies.

That's true.  Man, can you imagine if Pitt had been in the show!  That would have been great, but very confusing to those who knew nothing of the comics

A friend of mine did the same thing for me - from VHS to DVD.

Sad thing is, not many people know of the Maxx.

There was a cartoon about the Savage Dragon. If you look hard enough you'll find people who may very well have it on DVD.

Oh yeah that is right! I do remember seeing a Savage Dragon animated series. But what I meant was that I wish they had done a Savage Dragon series in the same style that the Maxx series was done. I remember the SD cartoon being very "kiddie".

I agree, I am a HUGE MEGA fan of the Savage Dragon comic book. Erik Larsen (the creator) said he had nothing to do with the cartoon, I think they just sold the cartoon rights and let USA do what ever they wanted.

It looks like everbody's forgotten about The Maxx on DVD but I'll post this update anyway. I just received my 2-disc copy in the mail. It's available exclusively through Amazon.com along with The Head for $15! There's a 10 minute interview with Sam Keith (creator), Gregg Vanzo (animation director) and Seth Kearsley (storyboards and character designs) and a 10 minute recap of the seriesnarrated byMr. Gone that precedes the final episode. Not much to speak of, but the interview is very interesting considering (for me) The Maxx was such an obscure piece of genius that came and went so quick. Holy Crap (!) The Maxx is finally on DVD!! So I can officially retire my poor VHS copy. It is a DVR produced On Demand from Amazon, but the quality by far exceeds the video and it looks gorgeous. Not perfect, but like I said...The Maxx is on DVD. Nuff Said. ...and the price is frickin' right. Enjoy my friends!
