  • Bloodstream...

The writers over at The Mentalist seem to have taken a liking to role reversals over the last few episodes and honestly I think that they've got every reason to. This week's "Bloodstream" sees Cho take charge of the team in the investigation of the murder of a well liked doctor. For the first time in a while it wasn't necessarily too obvious who killed him, which is nice to see as a few of the recent episodes have been a little less intricate than one might expect of The Mentalist, but that wasn't really what made this a good episode.

The alluded to shift in dynamic and the interactions of the team were nice to see and brought about a few laughs. Patrick was as charming as ever, perhaps even more so on his way to finding out the killer's identity and LaRoche's short appearances kept the episode grounded in the long term story of the show, making it less of a standalone and more of a light continuation to the plot. LaRoche taking charge of the unit wasn't an entirely unpredictable way for the writers to go with the story and lends credence to the theory that Bertram may be Red John's inside man, (i.e LaRoche will take his place as man in charge when he is discovered) and overall "Bloodstream" rounded out to being a pretty good episode of The Mentalist.moreless
  • Bloodstream

A bit of a slow-moving episode of The Mentalist here tonight (much like the sport of golf itself) but one that I enjoyed it. It had a unique feel to it, although CBS often does episodes with murders on a golf course for their shows, as I think CSI did one recently, just to name a show. Still, the way the episode progressed was enjoyable, a few twists and turns and of course Patrick Jane using deception to catch the killer is always a fun thing to watch.

Decent enough episode tonight, but hopefully the show starts to build a little momentum as the season winds down.moreless
  • Great :)

    I really enjoyed this episode.

When the patients were in so much pain, I felt it was pretty obvious the culprit had been diluting the meds. I agree with AjMc91

completely. He or she said it all.

Now I have to keep typing just to get to one hundred.

    Please excuse the repetition

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • At the doctors' meeting, when Jane calls out the doctors' apathy to their patients, he says "And they call me a fraud". However, until now, there are only two people who specifically call him out for being a fraud psychic: Red John and himself.

  • QUOTES (6)

    • Lisbon: Golf. I don't get it.

Jane: Pointless, absurd, repetitive activity. Very good for clearing the mind. All these stalls here, mental washing machines.

    • Jane: I'm off to the cafeteria for something deliciously suspended in gelatin.

Lisbon: I'm not even gonna ask you where you're really going. You wanna know why? I don't have to.

    • LaRoche: You are back in charge of your team, effective immediately.

      Lisbon: Wait... What?

      LaRoche: You're back in charge.

Lisbon: No, I heard you. Why was I pulled off in the first place?

LaRoche: Maybe I was messing with you.

    • Lisbon: We're investigating the murder of Dr. Newton.

Dr. Quick: Well, this is hardly the venue.

Jane: Au contraire, this is just the venue. A room full of professionals who prescribe drugs they know little about to cure diseases they know less about for people they know nothing about. And they call me a fraud.

    • Rigsby: So listen, delicate question.

      Cho: Yes.

Rigsby: Thursday quiz night is strictly no bosses, as you know. Should we give your spot to Lisbon? Feels kind of weird.

Cho: Do what you feel is right.

Rigsby: Or should we just hang on to your spot in case you srew up? (Cho gives him a look.) It's just a joke.

      Cho: Yeah. Funny.

Rigsby: You're gonna make a hell of a boss, man. I'm already scared of you.

    • Francine: Are you the CBI Agents?
Jane: Yes. She does the detecting and I do the insulting.
      Lisbon: Ah, consulting.
      Jane: That, too.
