The Mentalist Season 4 Episode 1

Lisbon: You killed an unarmed man in front of 500 witnesses. You're not okay.
Jane: He had a gun. Someone must have taken it and switched the cell phone. It's the only possible explanation.
Lisbon: That, or you went nuts for a moment.
Jane : Lisbon, look at me. I didn't go nuts.
Lisbon: I believe you. I'm not sure a jury will.

Lisbon: We have no hard facts, just your word.
Jane: And you're beginning to think that maybe my word is dubious. Maybe I'm crazy. Maybe I shot some random guy.
Lisbon: No. (Jane stares at her) It's crossed my mind, yeah.
Jane: Fair enough. I guess I'm gonna have to get out of here to help you with this.
Lisbon: How? Your bail's set at a million bucks.
Jane: Yeah, that's no problem. Once I get the money together, I'll call you.
Lisbon: How you gonna do that?
Jane : I'll think of something. Meantime I need you to get ahold of Timothy Carter's personal effects from forensics.
Lisbon: How am I gonna do that?
Jane: You'll think of something.

Lisbon: So, what did you do, honestly?
Jane: He had a gun.
Lisbon: No, I mean how did you raise the bail money?
Jane: Oh, that. Uh, murder for hire. Killed a snitch. Stabbed him in the kidneys.
Lisbon: You did not.
Jane : I did not. I won it in a card game, but I had you for a moment. You really do fear for my sanity.

Lisbon: Well, you've done what you set out to do. You got your vengeance. Do you feel different? Feel better?
Jane: No. I feel guilty.
Lisbon: Guilty? Why?
Jane: For deceiving the jury. I mean, I had no choice. Going to prison for murder would have been a victory for Red John.
Lisbon: What do you mean? Red John's dead.
Jane: Timothy Carter's dead. He was an evil man, but he wasn't Red John. Red John... is still alive.

Lisbon: Is it possible your husband hid things from you? Other aspects of his life?
Mrs. Carter: We were very close. We didn't keep secrets from each other, ever.
Van Pelt: How do you know?
Mrs. Carter: Excuse me?
Van Pelt: I mean, a secret, by definition, is something you don't know, right?
