  • Wedding in Red

I did not care for the wedding and Rigsby/Van Pelt moments as much as some viewers probably did, but it was still a good moment and a well-deserved payoff to fans of that couple for all these years.

It was a strong episode overall. Good case, and good classic Jane.

  • Wayne and Grace suddenly get married!

Wayne and Grace suddenly get married! This was what made the episode, the rest was just meh. the sheriff being afraid, then not afraid, of heights has just given the game away that he's red John. Like he'd really tell the truth to the therapist. (Him being Percy from Nikita also sealed the deal pretty early in the game for me too)
  • You knocked her up, as well?

This was a major step forward in relationship terms for Van Pelt & Rigsby, with Yeoman and Righetti playing it to the hilt in every scene.

Rigsby being completely oblivious to the wedding hints from Van Pelt was typically male and pretty funny but the reveal, for want of a better term, during Van Pelts talk with the bride was superbly staged and acted.

You could feel Van Pelts pain and sorrow all the way.

Even the proposal during the wedding dance that I thought would be cheesy beyond belief was lifted by Yeoman effectively playing it for "real".

Even Cho was able to act out of character somewhat and present a big smile, when needed, although his "you knocked her up as well" moment was brilliant.

Yes, there actually was a case as well, but it definitely played second fiddle to the Red John hunt and the Rigsby/Van Pelt relationship.

Even the "Jisbon" shippers were given some hope when Jane had a tender moment with Lisbon.

Holding her coat was no big deal IMHO but the hair adjustment is something I associate with real comfortable intimacy and I'm only annoyed the writers didn't play it up a bit further.

At the wedding, itself, while I understand Jane's motives for not being in the room to a certain extent, given he engineered the revelation for Rigsby. I'm a bit surprised he didn't go in anyway if for no other reason than to be closer to Lisbon.

All in all a satisfactory episode on all levels and keeps The Mentalist as my favourite show at this time.

    Roll on next weeks episode.moreless
  • I even shed a tear...

I love that finally Van Pelt and Rigsby said their I dos. I even shed a tear. It was very emotional. I loved that the Civil War reenactors gave a 21 gun the carriage ride to the hotel was beautiful. The expression on Cho's face was priceless. But I am like someone else said, and I have said before myself enough of the Red John crap already.. I am really tired of this story arc. This weeks death of the week didn't amount to much. I think is really was just to show case Van Pelt and Rigsby getting married. I really liked this one.moreless
