Frankie and Mike are excited when they find out that Axl has a new girlfriend Morgan and that he is in love. But just as the family is adjusting to his new bright outlook on life, Morgan dumps him, leaving him heartbroken. Meanwhile, Sue learns that she isn't the best babysitter when she looks after Brick and lets him watch a scary movie.moreless

    Here's all you need to know about this episode.

    Zombies? Always funny. Keeping a 20 year-old recording of a weeping drunk call from your husband? Creepy but potentially funny. Playing it for your teenage son? Not funny.

    Losing a chance to go to the state basketball tournament because of girl? NEVER funny.

    So basically this was one mediocre episode from a show we have come to expect more from. The Middle has been a surprise pleasure, one that sneaks up on you. It's been improving all season but this episode was a little bump in the road. Let's hope we get back on track quick.moreless

    Sue has to watch (babysit) Brick in this episode, but has a lapse in judgement and lets him watch a horror movie with her - well actually Brick DID con her into it.
    Also Axl is in the play-offs for a basketball game, while at the same time going out with a new girlfriend who Frankie and Mike both adore. Sadly, she dumps him - and Axl has a hard time trying to get over her (I think this is the first episode in which Axl actually cries). Frankie tries to ease his pain, much to Mike's disgust, by playing for him her old tapes of Mike crying while he was dating her.

    Flash forward to the basketball final - Axl refuses to shoot a goal (and possibly win the game) until his ex comes back to him. Sue however, is more interested in trying to hunt down the "pod monsters" with Brick, which they think have taken over the school.

    This was a very strange episode indeed. Not that I didn't enjoy it though - it was good to see the writers attempt to do something different - it was just a little too unbelievable though.moreless
