  • Best Episode Ever

Although Vince plays a small part in this episode, because Noel is playing Old Gregg, the story of Old Gregg is by far my favorite episode. The voice of Gregg is enough to make anyone laugh, and the things he says are legendary. From his obsession with Baileys to his watercolors, Old Gregg is the most interesting scaly man fish I have ever met. The Funk, a creature about the size of a medicine ball but covered in teats, has a wonderfully illustrated background story that allows anyone who drinks it's funky juice to see around corners! I you haven't experienced the Legend of Old Gregg then your life is missing a piece to it's puzzle.

  • I'm Old Gregg

This one I didn't quite as enjoy as much as others and simply cannot see fans' admiration for it. Sure, it's a funny episode, with some brilliant interaction between Howard and Vince, but 'Old Gregg' just didn't do it for me, sorry. There simply isn't enough to him as a character that makes him funny. Sure, he's pathetic, a little psychotic and he's got a 'mangina', but to be honest, he never really made me laugh; like Howard said, he's just quite irritating.

The plot as a whole isn't too bad, at least until Howard and Vince are separated. Usually this technique works, allowing both to flex both their characters in hilarious situations before Vince comes in to save the day, but it doesn't work quite so well here. Instead both just kind of wait a little, in a bit of lull until the problem can be resolved. It's a shame too that Barratt's performance seems a little off during the scenes with Old Gregg, never really bringing out any of the humorous sides of Howard. Instead he's portrayed as rather despondent and nothing else.

Nevertheless I did love the fishermen, the tale of the funk, the 'love game' song (one of the best yet!) and the brilliant scenes with Howard and Vince just working the chemistry together; trading dialogue and creating some of the best scenes of the episode. Overall, a good show, but certainly not the classic it's made out to be- the poorest effort of season 2 I'd say.moreless

An abolsute classic of the first order

The character of old gregg is freaky ,funny and sad all at the same time.

The grizzled fishy stereotypes in the pub are great

The story of how gregg got the funk was excellent

as of course was the song ,love games.

I found my self singing it on the bus

  • Best one in series 2

By far the best episode of the second series.Old Gregg's voice is so amazing, i could listen to it for days without it getting boring. Also his obsession for Baileys and watercolours makes him the funniest 'Bad Guy' in any of the series. The moon's song is one of his funniest scenes, even teasing Jupiter about how good the song is, also the Moon's explanation of what Old Gregg looks like is not to be missed. The Funky Merman's first appearance is hilarious, especially how Howard reacts by being scared but also finding him really weird at the same time.moreless
